Position Title: Strategic Program Manager- Process Optimization

Location: Peachtree Corners, GA (Hybrid)

The Strategic Program Manager - Front-End 3rd-Party Manufacturing (3PM)/Process Optimization is responsible for applying advanced supply chain, procurement, logistics, manufacturing, and cost-management expertise within the electrical industry and power distribution equipment sector at the beginning of the order lifecycle. The primary objective is to ensure that orders planned for manufacturing by 3PMs are commercially and operationally optimized before the order enters the formal order-entry process.

The primary purpose of this position is to leverage supply-chain expertise and data-driven analysis to optimize the initial Bill of Materials (BOM), identify supply-chain and material risks, establish cost-improvement actions, and ensure material and supplier readiness before an order is released for manufacturing.

The Program Manager will work closely with Engineering, Procurement, Pricing, Finance, Operations, Project Management, and 3PMs to review and challenge the initial manufacturing approach and identify opportunities to improve product cost, material availability, supplier selection, logistics, lead times, inventory requirements, and overall profitability.

By bringing supply-chain expertise into the front end of the order process, the Program Manager will proactively identify and address potential issues before they become manufacturing, schedule, cost, supply-chain, or customer-delivery problems. This early intervention is critical to ensuring that the selected manufacturing strategy is both cost-competitive and operationally feasible before the order is committed to execution.

The Program Manager will serve as the key business contact for assigned 3PMs and will lead cross-functional actions related to BOM optimization, cost analysis and improvement, critical-material identification, supplier development, long-lead-time mitigation, purchasing strategy, logistics optimization, material availability, and manufacturing readiness.

The position will play a critical role in ensuring that supply-chain risks and cost-improvement opportunities are identified and addressed at the earliest possible stage, enabling the organization to make informed decisions before order entry and minimizing the risk of cost increases, material shortages, schedule delays, and customer-impacting issues during execution.

The success of this position will be measured by its ability to improve the front-end quality of contract-manufacturing decisions and prevent problems before they occur.

The Program Manager will be responsible for ensuring that supply-chain considerations are incorporated into the order decision before manufacturing starts, rather than addressing supply-chain problems after they have already impacted on cost or schedule.
  1. Front-End Supply Chain Assessment
  • Review the order and initial BOM at the beginning of the process to identify cost, availability, sourcing, lead-time, logistics, and manufacturing risks.
  • Apply supply-chain expertise to challenge the initial BOM and identify opportunities for: Alternative components or materials, Supplier alternatives, Cost reductions, Standardization, Material availability improvements, Lead-time reductions, Logistics optimization, Inventory optimization
  • Identify critical components and materials that could affect the manufacturing schedule or customer commitment.
  • Establish risk-mitigation actions before the order is processed.
  1. BOM Optimization & Cost Improvement
  • Lead the review and optimization of the initial Bill of Materials for contract-manufactured orders.
  • Analyze material and manufacturing costs to identify opportunities to improve product cost and profitability.
  • Work with Engineering, Procurement, and 3PM to identify alternative materials, suppliers, manufacturing methods, and sourcing strategies.
  • Develop and implement cost-improvement actions based on supply-chain analysis.
  • Evaluate the impact of material selection, supplier location, transportation, lead times, minimum order quantities, and purchasing strategies on total cost.
  • Ensure cost-improvement opportunities are identified before manufacturing decisions become difficult or costly to change.
  • Track cost-reduction actions and quantify their financial impact.
  1. Material Risk & Supply Availability
  • Identify long-lead-time, constrained, obsolete, high-risk, and critical components at the beginning of each order.
  • Evaluate supplier capacity and material availability against the required manufacturing and customer schedule.
  • Partner with Procurement and suppliers to establish mitigation plans for critical materials.
  • Identify opportunities to secure materials earlier when required to protect the manufacturing schedule.
  • Establish appropriate actions related to purchasing, supplier allocation, inventory, safety stock, alternative sourcing, or other mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor identified risks through resolution and ensure that actions are completed on time.
  1. 3PMs Management
  • Serve as a key business contact for assigned 3PM during the front-end planning and execution process.
  • Work with 3PM to establish competitive manufacturing costs and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Challenge and validate supplier cost assumptions, BOM requirements, material sourcing, and logistics strategies.
  • Establish action plans with 3PM to improve cost, quality, lead time, material availability, and delivery performance.
  • Partner with 3PM and Procurement to identify opportunities for supplier development and continuous improvement.
  1. Procurement & Purchasing Strategy
  • Work closely with Procurement to translate the findings from BOM and cost analysis into actionable sourcing strategies.
  • Identify materials requiring early purchasing due to lead time, availability, market conditions, or customer schedule.
  • Support the creation and release of purchase orders based on established supply-chain strategies.
  • Support change-order processes and authorization when changes impact material, cost, supplier, or manufacturing requirements.
  • Work with 3PMs and Siemens procurement team to develop supplier action plans to improve cost, availability, lead times, and overall performance.
  1. Logistics & Lead-Time Optimization
  • Evaluate logistics requirements during the front-end order review.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce transportation costs and improve material and product lead times.
  • Evaluate supplier location, transportation modes, shipment consolidation, and delivery requirements as part of the overall cost analysis.
  • Work with 3PM and Procurement to develop logistics strategies that balance cost, inventory, lead time, and customer requirements.
  • Identify logistics risks before they impact manufacturing or customer delivery.
  1. SAP, Data & Process Improvement
  • Utilize SAP and available business data to analyze material availability, purchasing, inventory, supplier performance, costs, and order requirements.
  • Develop and implement standardized processes for front-end supply-chain analysis.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive activities such as order creation, purchasing analysis, BOM analysis, supplier analysis, reporting, and risk identification.
  • Improve data visibility and accuracy to support faster and better business decisions.
  • Develop data-driven tools and processes that allow teams to identify supply-chain risks and cost-improvement opportunities earlier in the order lifecycle.
  • Support the implementation of scalable SAP and digital solutions that improve supply-chain planning and execution.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of industry experience with demonstrated expertise in Supply Chain, Procurement, Logistics, Manufacturing, Supplier Management, Cost Analysis, or related disciplines.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical distribution products, including fabrication, manufacturing, supply chain, or related operations.
  • Strong understanding of electrical distribution products and their manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated experience using supply-chain knowledge to analyze and improve product cost, BOMs, supplier strategies, material availability, and lead times.
  • Experience identifying and mitigating long-lead-time and critical-material risks.
  • Proficiency with SAP.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Fluent in Spanish; native Spanish speaker
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25%.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US with no sponsorship now or in the future.

The pay range for this position is $91,463 - $156,794 annually with a target incentive of 10% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
