Full Job Description
Position Duties:

Serves as a Strategic Planner in the War Plan and Strategy Division, HQ Army Materiel Command (AMC) focusing on future operational, contingency, functional and supporting plans in support of combatant commands (COCOM) throughout the planning process. Responsible for managing a broad range of support and sustainment options while developing complex and detailed products that support the overall Theater Campaign Plan as directed by DoD and HQDA. In-depth knowledge of AMC mission responsibilities and the wide-range of subordinate command capabilities is critical for researching, providing analytical impacts and efforts, upon which command-wide programs, policies, procedures will be predicated. Responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of management policies, programs and procedures related to operations, organizations, missions, functions, staffing and workload.

Major Duties:

1. As a senior planner and analyst, responsible for advising AMC leadership on the impact of current and future changes to the strategic environment, including resources and mission directed shifts across combatant commands as related to all numbered plans. Reviews and analyzes national and strategic level documents related to real world contingencies that effect the Army plan as well as joint level doctrine and directives to determine AMC equities. Responsibility includes internal and external participation with AMC staff, subordinate commands and HQDA as required. Provides detailed updates to Current Operations Directorate and other senior analysts in managing major actions including planning conferences, exercises, strategic shaping studies, assessments, and special analyses across the command-wide scope related to readiness, support and sustainment. Participates in all COCOM's campaign planning and exercise activities to ensure AMC equities are properly accounted for and support secretary of defense's specified guidance within time constraints required to accomplish all assigned missions. Ensures COCOM campaign plans are synchronized and fully integrated to support contingency, functional and supporting operations.

2. Manages the conduct of broad, encompassing analytical efforts upon which program policy, procedural and system determinations will be predicated. Develops and provides input to writing support plans, annexes and appendices as required to support COCOM planning efforts to ensure globally responsive logistics support for all Theater Campaign Plans. Evaluates the effectiveness of management policies, program and operations, organizations, missions and functions, staffing and workload.

3. Provides responsive, interdisciplinary, analytical capability involving broad, undefined complex issues during crisis and deliberate planning efforts. Ensures a well-established battle rhythm is developed and maintained to include AMC's major subordinate commands and senior staff leadership. Researches suspected problem areas; identifies key variables or factors; and develops practical and innovative solutions based on knowledge of the long and short-term goals of the organization.

4. Provides support to Army and joint planning and other processes. Brings a broad based analytical capability and knowledge of Army and AMC Command operations in support of other defined actions and processes outside the immediate responsibilities of the office.

5. Supports and provides input to the AMC Strategic Plan in regards to long range planning efforts that effect organizational design, resourcing, and or training to ensure AMC is postured to support the Army of the future.
