Job Summary

The Director of Community & Strategic Partnerships develops and coordinates strategic relationships that expand Huntsman Mental Health Institute's community impact and advance its mission and strategic priorities. Working closely with executive leadership, operational leaders, and external partners, this role builds cross-sector partnerships, connects organizations and individuals with HMHI expertise and resources, coordinates collaborative initiatives, and creates opportunities to share HMHI's programs and innovative models.

The Director serves as a key connector between HMHI and external organizations, helping turn opportunities for partnership into meaningful, coordinated relationships and initiatives.

Responsibilities

Community & Strategic Partnerships, Outreach & Society Strategy Support:

• Build and maintain relationships with healthcare organizations, community agencies, educational institutions, professional associations, and other strategic partners.
• Identify and develop partnership opportunities that align with HMHI's mission and strategic priorities.
• Coordinate ongoing engagement with community and strategic partners.
• Support partnership activities associated with HMHI's Society strategy and related initiatives.
• Identify and engage external organizations that can help advance Society strategy priorities.
• Connect community partners with appropriate HMHI programs, services, resources, and subject matter experts.
• Represent HMHI at community meetings, conferences, partnership events, and other external engagements as appropriate.
• Maintain awareness of emerging community needs and opportunities for HMHI engagement and collaboration.

Convenings & Collaboration:

• Plan and coordinate cross-sector convenings, collaborative meetings, and networking opportunities.
• Bring together community partners, healthcare organizations, and other external groups around shared priorities and opportunities.
• Coordinate communication and follow-up with participating organizations.
• Support workgroups and collaborative efforts involving HMHI and external partners.
• Track commitments, next steps, and opportunities that emerge from convenings.
• Support continued engagement and collaboration following meetings and events.

Community Connection & Referral Coordination:

• Serve as a point of connection for community partners seeking access to HMHI programs, resources, expertise, or leadership.
• Connect external organizations and individuals with the appropriate HMHI program, department, or subject matter expert.
• Support the coordination of HMHI admin referrals involving community and external relationships.
• Route partnership and community requests to the appropriate institute leaders or teams and help ensure the connection is made.
• Maintain appropriate follow-up on external requests that require coordination across HMHI.

Partnership & Initiative Support:

• Support partnership development related to grant opportunities, philanthropic priorities, workforce initiatives, and other strategic collaborations.
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure external partnership efforts are aligned and well communicated.
• Support development and coordination of collaborative agreements and partnership initiatives.
• Help identify external organizations and relationships that may support emerging HMHI priorities.
• Provide coordination support for strategic partnership opportunities that cross multiple HMHI areas.

Institute Tours & Model Dissemination:

• Coordinate and facilitate tours for community partners, healthcare organizations, policymakers, donors, and visiting institutions.
• Partner with HMHI leaders and subject matter experts to showcase HMHI facilities, programs, services, and innovative models.
• Coordinate site visits and learning opportunities for organizations interested in HMHI programs and models of care.
• Support opportunities to share promising practices and HMHI models through presentations, site visits, and collaborative learning.
• Ensure tours and visits are coordinated with the appropriate internal teams and aligned with the purpose and interests of the visiting group.

Other Duties:

• Support additional community engagement, partnership, and strategic priorities as needed.
• Participate in institute-wide initiatives and other responsibilities aligned with the scope of the role.

• Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop trusted relationships across diverse organizations and communities.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills, including the ability to represent HMHI effectively with external partners and groups.

• Capability to identify and develop strategic partnership opportunities aligned with organizational priorities and community needs.
• Strong organizational and follow-through skills, with the ability to manage multiple relationships, requests, commitments, and initiatives simultaneously.
• Sound judgment and professionalism when working with executive leaders, community partners, donors, policymakers, and other external audiences.
• Capability to work effectively in a complex, highly collaborative environment and navigate relationships across organizational boundaries.

Minimum Qualifications

EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

Director, Strategic Partnership Management: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 12 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 10 years of directly related work experience.
