This position has an initial appointment of one year.

Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.

Reporting to the Director, Business Continuous Improvements, the Strategic Initiatives Officer (SIO) is responsible for leading and supporting departmental consultation, projects, research, and trend analysis related to one or more of the Campus Services units. The SIO also supports the advancement of strategic planning initiatives and other projects as assigned.

The SIO works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including campus partners, on projects integral to the success of Campus Services' business units. The position provides discovery, analysis, planning, change management, and managing of specific initiatives and projects from initiation to completion.

The SIO also provides executive leadership support and assistance to the Campus Services Senior Leadership Group to advance programs, planning activities, and priority projects that advance the goals of Campus Services.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, facilitate, and document projects that align with the vision of Campus Services.
  • Identify projects to achieve this vision.
  • Lead project teams through all phases of the project lifecycle, including requirements gathering, analysis, design, development, testing, training, change management and implementation.
  • Create Organizational Change Management Plans for projects / initiatives.
  • Conduct Business Analysis and create documentation on systems, processes, and workflows.
  • Create and implement precise management plans for every project, with attention to transparent communication at all levels.
  • Facilitate stakeholder workshops and focus groups.
  • Drive awareness of requirements across business units and identify substandard systems processes through evaluation of real-time data.
  • Serve as thought leader for technical business processes.
  • Perform, evaluate, and communicate thorough quality assurance at every stage of systems development.
  • Apply deep understanding of user experience/user interface principles and operational/institutional needs to guide the development of solutions, processes or systems to help maximize usability and adoption.

This position offers a comprehensive benefits package, and an annual salary range of $74,012 to $123,271.

The terms and conditions of this appointment are governed by Schedule G of the collective agreement between the University and the Association of Academic Staff of the University of Alberta.
