The Role

MatX is looking for a strategic finance and deals person to help secure the supply chain behind our hardware roadmap.

You will report to the Head of Business Development and work closely with engineering, operations, finance, and legal. The work will include supplier diligence, market mapping, financial analysis, deal structuring, and negotiation support across the semiconductor and hardware supply chain.

This is a good fit for someone who has worked in investing, banking, equity research, private equity, consulting, strategic finance, corporate development, or supply-chain dealmaking - especially with exposure to semiconductors, hardware, or infrastructure.

The right person is analytical, commercially sharp, and comfortable going deep on technical markets. They can build a model, read a supply agreement, pressure-test a counterparty, and write a clear recommendation.

What You'll Do
  • Help MatX identify, evaluate, and secure key suppliers and manufacturing partners.
  • Build financial and commercial models around capacity, cost, working capital, prepayments, volume commitments, and risk-sharing structures.
  • Support deal processes from initial partner mapping through diligence, negotiation, and execution.
  • Structure supply agreements, capacity reservations, strategic partnerships, and other commercial arrangements.
  • Work with engineering and operations to understand technical requirements, lead times, qualification paths, and supply-chain constraints.
  • Research semiconductor and hardware markets, including foundries, advanced packaging, memory, substrates, boards, components, contract manufacturers, and related suppliers.
  • Prepare concise written materials for leadership, including deal memos, market maps, supplier assessments, and negotiation recommendations.
  • Help build the internal process for evaluating and executing supply-chain deals.

Who You Are
  • You have strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
  • You have experience in investing, banking, equity research, private equity, consulting, strategic finance, corporate development, business development, or supply chain.
  • You are interested in semiconductors, hardware, manufacturing, and AI infrastructure.
  • You can get smart quickly on technical topics and know how to ask good questions.
  • You have good judgment around risk, incentives, counterparties, and tradeoffs.
  • You are comfortable working with incomplete information.
  • You write clearly and can turn a complex situation into a simple recommendation.
  • You are organized, direct, and high-ownership.
  • You are comfortable working with both internal teams and external partners.

Nice to Have
  • Semiconductor investing, banking, equity research, private equity, or consulting experience.
  • Experience with foundries, OSATs, advanced packaging, memory, substrates, boards, power, thermal, networking, ODMs, JDMs, or contract manufacturers.
  • Experience structuring supply agreements, capacity reservations, prepayments, strategic partnerships, or other complex commercial deals.
  • Experience diligencing hardware, infrastructure, manufacturing, or semiconductor businesses.
  • Familiarity with AI accelerators, GPUs, datacenter infrastructure, or high-performance computing supply chains.
  • Startup or high-growth company experience.
