Full Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and highly collaborative Strategic Coordinator to serve as a vital partner to our Branch Manager and Leadership Team. In this high-impact role, you will work independently to develop, implement, and evaluate key strategies while managing complex assignments with varying degrees of political impact, confidentiality, and Council sensitivities. As a trusted advisor, you will seamlessly collaborate across organizational lines to drive critical initiatives-such as Branch Strategic Plans, budget development, and capital infrastructure reporting-ensuring flawless execution from conception to final evaluation.

An exceptional communicator and natural leader, you will interact with all levels of the corporation and external partners, crafting high-level business plans, presentations, and briefings for the Corporate Leadership Team and City Auditor. Beyond strategic oversight, you will play a pivotal role in our organizational culture by providing mentorship and guidance to our administrative team to foster their career development. What will you do?

  • Lead, coordinate, and define overall Branch business plans, long-term strategies, and organizational goals to ensure seamless alignment with corporate visions and missions
  • Research, write, and review high-quality Council, Committee, and Executive Leadership Team (ELT) reports and information packages, ensuring they adhere to professional standards and address public or leadership inquiries
  • Act as the principal consultant and representative for the Branch Manager on City committees and corporate initiatives, providing expert, confidential advice and strategic recommendations
  • Conceptualize, plan, and direct complex, confidential, and politically sensitive projects from initial research and analysis through to implementation and outcome evaluation
  • Conduct environmental scans to identify emerging trends, strategic issues, and operational opportunities, independently developing proactive solutions to mitigate risks
  • Partner collaboratively across organizational lines, municipal networks, industry partners, and other orders of government to facilitate integrated, strategic solutions
  • Analyze internal operations to provide recommendations that improve the overall efficiency, economy, and effectiveness of Branch services
  • Produce, review, and edit a wide variety of high-level written materials-including presentations, briefings, and bulletins-for both internal and external audiences
  • Champion corporate cultural commitments, fostering an empowering environment where staff are equipped, engaged, and held accountable to organizational values
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and strategic resource planning for leadership, administrative, and project teams, while overseeing recruitment and engagement action plans


Qualifications:

  • University degree, including Public Policy, Business Administration, or Political Science
  • Minimum of 5 years, progressively responsible strategic and management experience

Conditions of employment & work environment:

  • Up to: 1 temporary full-time position for up to 18 months
  • Hours of work: 36.9 hours per week, Monday - Friday
  • Salary: $92,945.89 - $116,185.25 (Annually)
  • This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and office
  • This position is eligible for the EDO program (Earned Day Off)
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent)
  • Applicants will be required to arrange their own transportation and where appropriate will be reimbursed in accordance with City of Edmonton policy. This may require the applicant to obtain business use auto insurance
