Full Job Description
Far West Federal is seeking a dynamic and skilled Communication Specialist to join our team supporting the US Army. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in public relations, and journalism, with the ability to craft compelling narratives that resonate with our audience.

This position may require an active Secret clearance.

Responsibilities:
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategic communication plans that align with US Army goals and objectives.
  • Create compelling content, including press releases, articles, speeches, and reports.
  • Manage media relations, including drafting press materials, and responding to inquiries.
  • Support public affairs initiatives by engaging with key stakeholders, government agencies, and industry partners.
  • Monitor media coverage, industry trends, and public perception to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, subject matter experts, and external vendors to ensure cohesive messaging.
  • Assist in crisis communication strategies and response efforts.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in strategic communications, or public affairs.
  • The ability and expertise to coordinate and facilitate communication at the General Schedule-15 (GS-15)/Senior Executive Service (SES) or Colonel (COL)/General Officer (GO) levels.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and communication tools.
  • Familiarity with Army, DOD or Individual services

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with crisis communication and reputation management.
  • Knowledge of graphic design and multimedia content creation is a plus.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and community outreach.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods while performing work on a computer.
  • Ability to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through electronic communications.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, reports, and information displayed on computer monitors.
