Job Summary

The Strategic Business Ventures & Operations Director will lead a team to enable data driven decision making through efficient and effective board level reporting, business plan development and presentation, strategic partnerships with external organizations, and P&L reporting on various IEEE - Standards Association (IEEE- SA) lines of business and products.

Reporting to the Senior Director Strategy Execution and Engagement, IEEE SA, the incumbent will partner closely across the organization to leverage talent, data, and infrastructure as shared resources. The Director will directly oversee a small, high-impact team, including market intelligence professionals, to drive insights-led experimentation and foresight-driven strategy. This position will manage one (1) direct reports with additional staff underneath its direct reports.

Key Responsibilities

Board Reporting & Strategic Storytelling

  • Craft compelling board presentations and reports that clearly communicate strategic progress, insights, and recommendations
  • Translate complex data and cross-functional initiatives into coherent narratives that inform decision-making at the highest levels
  • Prepare executive leadership for board meetings with strategic briefings, scenario analyses, and supporting materials


Market Engagement & Strategic Partnerships

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business plan development strategy to elevate organizational visibility and influence through data driven decision making
  • Monitor market trends, competitive dynamics, and stakeholder sentiment to inform strategic direction
  • Identify and cultivate key external relationships, partnerships, and opportunities that advance organizational objectives


Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead a high-performing team responsible for strategy operations, analytics, and engagement activities
  • Mentor direct reports, fostering a culture of strategic thinking, analytical rigor, and execution excellence
  • Partner with department heads to build strategic capability across the organization


Travel Information

  • 25% Domestic and International


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (Business, Technology) Required
  • Master's or other advanced degree in a relevant field (Business) Preferred


Work Experience

  • 10-15 years progressive experience in strategy, management consulting, corporate development, or related fields Required
  • 4-7 years people management experience with demonstrated success building and leading teams Required


Skills and Requirements

  • Experience developing and executing market engagement or external relations strategies
  • Proficiency with strategic planning tools, project management methodologies, and data visualization platforms
  • Familiarity with hypothesis based planning and testing and/or other logical thought processes with ability to allow for parallel effort management
  • Strong understanding of community engagement, base technologies, and product lifecycles in a B2B market
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with experience synthesizing complex information for executive audiences
  • Outstanding communication and storytelling skills, including executive and board -level presentation experience
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to understand and navigate complex organizational dynamics
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and delivering successful results
  • Ability to communicate effectively; Confident in speaking with experts in various domains and presenting to a variety of stakeholders with diverse backgrounds
  • Logical and analytical thinker with entrepreneurial mindset with ability to work in teams as well as individually
