Full Job Description
Leidos is seeking a dynamic Strategic Bomber Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the critical mission of USSTRATCOM/J7 at Offutt AFB, on Omaha, NE. This is a unique opportunity to bring your operational bomber expertise to a high-impact role shaping strategic deterrence, global strike readiness, and joint force integration. Candidates must hold an active TS/SCI to be considered. Note: This position is part of a prospective contract, contingent upon final award. Anticipated award date: August 2026. Job Summary: • Perform in-depth analysis of USSTRATCOM core mission areas, with a primary focus on strategic bomber operations, force posture, and employment concepts. • Serve as a subject matter expert on bomber aircraft platforms, the B-1, B-2, B-52, and B-21. • Evaluate the effectiveness of strategic deterrence initiatives and the integration of bomber capabilities across nuclear and conventional mission sets. • Support the planning, coordination, and execution of joint exercises, training activities, and operational assessments in alignment with Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC) processes. • Assist in the development of operational plans and strategic documents, including campaign plans, and related assessments. • Provide senior leaders with informed recommendations regarding bomber force readiness, operational risk, and capability shortfalls. • Support the integration of bomber operations within broader NC2/NC3 architectures and global strike operations. • Participate in wargaming activities, scenario design, and post-exercise/operation analysis efforts. • Collaborate with Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, Military Services, and interagency stakeholders to ensure operational alignment and mission integration. Required Qualifications • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with eligibility for NC2/ESI and Special Access Program (SAP) access (or ability to obtain within required timeframe). • Minimum of 15 years of operational experience as a commissioned officer supporting B-1, B-2, B-52, and/or B-21 bomber missions. • At least 3 years of experience supporting the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Joint Staff, Combatant Command, Service Headquarters, MAJCOM, or a comparable headquarters-level organization. • Master's degree or higher from an accredited college or university. • Graduate of Joint Professional Military Education Phase II. • Graduate of a Senior Service School (e.g., Air War College, Naval War College, Army War College, or equivalent institution). • Graduate of an advanced weapons school program (e.g., USAF Weapons School or equivalent). • Proven experience within an Air Operations Center (AOC).
