Full Job Description
About the Role

Simile has a story that almost no one else can tell. We have built the first AI simulation of society, and we are pioneering an entirely new category of technology. The science is real, the ambition is enormous, and the implications touch nearly every consequential decision made in the world. What we need now is the voice to match.

This role owns how Simile shows up to the world. You will craft and evangelize our external narrative, decide what we say and when we say it, and make sure the story of what we are building reaches the people who need to hear it. You will set the editorial vision and run the engine behind it, and you will do it hands-on: writing, directing, and shipping.

In this role, you will:
  • Own the external narrative: Craft and evangelize the company story. Develop a clear, opinionated point of view on what Simile is building and why it matters, and make sure that narrative is consistent everywhere we show up.
  • Set the beats: Identify the monthly and quarterly moments we want to lean into, and build the calendar that turns a roadmap into a story the market follows.
  • Land the opportunities: Find and act on press, conference, and podcast opportunities. Decide which ones are worth chasing, build the relationships, and get us in the room.
  • Win the lists and the publications: Make sure Simile is well represented in customer-facing publications and lands on the lists we want to be on. Know which ones matter and which ones are vanity.
  • Keep the blog alive: Run an active company blog with a post every one to two weeks, largely through ghostwriting in the voices of our founders and team.
  • Act as creative director: Own the creative on every video we launch as a company, from concept to final cut.
  • Ship and polish: Set a high editorial bar while moving fast.
  • Reach the decision-makers: Identify and act on opportunities to engage enterprise leaders, making sure our narrative reaches the audiences whose attention compounds for the business.

Requirements
Must Haves
  • Exceptional creative taste and a point of view: You have a strong instinct for what is original and emotionally true, and a track record of work that reflects it. We will care more about this than your years of experience.
  • A portfolio you can show: Published or produced work, ideally including pieces you ghostwrote or shaped in someone else's voice. We will read and watch it closely.
  • Ability to find the truth inside a technical subject: You can locate the emotional or cultural truth inside complex, technical work and communicate it without reaching for clichés.
  • Creative courage: You are willing to challenge familiar conventions and pursue new playbooks rather than defaulting to what B2B brands usually do.
  • Comfort in ambiguity at early stage: Experience doing this work without an established playbook, ideally where you built the system rather than inherited it.

Nice to Haves
  • A multidisciplinary creative practice: You think through image, motion, interaction, space, or experience, and can direct collaborators across those disciplines.
  • Enterprise empathy: An instinct for what enterprise leaders and decision-makers actually care about.
  • Relationships you can activate: Existing press, podcast, and conference connections you can put to work from day one.
  • A feel for new categories: Experience telling the story of a technical or research-driven product, especially in AI or a net-new category.
  • Proof you understand distribution: A personal audience or platform that shows you grasp reach, not just craft.

Compensation & Benefits

At Simile, we provide competitive compensation packages that include base salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits.
  • Salary Range: $200,000 - $300,000 USD
    • Note: Final offers are based on experience, specialized skills, interview performance, and relevant training.
  • Equity: Grants are available for eligible roles, subject to board approval.
  • Health & Wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Time Off: Flexible time off policies to support work-life balance.

Our Process

We prioritize thoughtful conversations and clear examples of past work. Our hiring journey is designed to help both sides align on fit, working style, and expectations.

Reapplication Policy: To ensure a fair and thorough evaluation for all applicants, Simile observes a 90-day waiting period before reconsidering candidates for the same role.
