Position Overview

Responsible for providing technical expertise, assistance, and guidance in the area of stormwater management and storm drainage for development planning applications and municipal capital projects.

Oversees and/or assists in the review and analysis of engineering plans and reports relating to stormwater management and storm drainage in support of master planning initiatives, capital projects, and operation and maintenance requirements of stormwater management infrastructure.

Formulates reports, develops policies and related by-laws, and manages specialized projects and studies with respect to water quantity, water quality, water balance, erosion control, low impact development (LID) measures and dual drainage systems. Liaises with various levels of government, regulatory agencies and the public on storm drainage and storm water management related matters.

Qualifications and Experience
• Successful completion of an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resource Engineering, or suitable equivalent.
• Minimum of five (5) years' proven and progressive experience in the field of water resource engineering specifically stormwater management.
• Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the Professional Engineers Ontario.
• Excellent knowledge of water resources engineering industry standards, trends, emerging issues and applicable legislative requirements.
• Proficiency with specialized computer software applications and techniques for design and analysis work for hydrology and hydraulics. Working knowledge and experience with Visual Otthymo, PC SWMM, HEC-Ras, InfoWorks, and other hydrologic and hydraulic models would be an asset.
• Exceptional interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills; excellent oral and written communications skills on technical and non-technical matters. Interacts courteously and effectively with the Public, Staff, Members of Council, Consultants and the Development Industry.
• Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, teamwork, initiative/self-management and accountability, and flexibility/adaptability.
• Ability to identify issues, challenges and opportunities, and propose solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to work outside regular business hours, as required.
• Valid Ontario Class "G" driver's license in good standing and reliable vehicle to utilize on corporate business.
• Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in the City's core as well as relevant departmental functional competencies.

Working Conditions:
• Standard office environment.
• Ability to utilize online remote meeting platforms (e.g., MS Teams, Zoom, etc.) to meet with staff, consultants, and the general public.
• Comfortable speaking and providing presentations to varied types of audiences.
• Ability to conduct site visits, work outdoors, and travel to off-site meetings when required.
