Who We Are

HII - Mission Technologies is seeking a Data Engineer/Architect. The Data Engineer/Architect provides on-site technical expertise to design, implement, and sustain advanced data-integration solutions supporting mission partner requirements. This role defines and applies methodologies for data mapping, ETL processes, and enhanced data-integration strategies to enable seamless interoperability across diverse data environments. The analyst develops tools to import and integrate data from disparate commercial, defense, structured, and unstructured sources, ensuring compatibility and optimal utility for mission-partner systems. Additionally, this position advises on architectural transformations required to support evolving data-ingestion needs and facilitates technical collaboration to define and document data-exchange requirements.

This requisition supports hiring at multiple experience levels. Final placement will be determined based on the selected applicant's qualifications, experience, and skill sets.

What You Will Do

  • Define, implement, and refine methodologies for data mapping, ETL workflows, and enhanced data-integration strategies to support mission-partner objectives.
  • Develop tools and solutions that enable ingestion of data from disparate commercial, defense, structured, and unstructured data sources.
  • Ensure imported data aligns with mission-partner system requirements and maintains compatibility, quality, and utility.
  • Provide technical guidance on architectural and system transformations necessary to support evolving data-ingestion demands.
  • Facilitate mission-partner efforts to develop, refine, and document data-ingestion and data-exchange requirements.
  • Translate technical specifications into actionable guidance for data-integration planning, implementation, and optimization.
  • Support troubleshooting, data-pipeline management, and ongoing enhancement of ingestion workflows.
  • Work collaboratively with technical teams, analysts, and mission stakeholders to ensure data solutions meet operational and performance needs.


What We Are Looking For

  • Level 3: 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Level 4: 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
  • Level 5: 15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 10 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19 years relevant experience.
  • Experience with ETL development, data mapping, and data-pipeline engineering.
  • Proficiency with data-integration tools, frameworks, and ingestion technologies (specific tools can be added upon request).
  • Experience developing or automating ingestion pipelines for structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Strong understanding of database technologies, data modeling, and data-architecture principles.
  • Ability to develop custom ingestion tools or scripts to integrate data from heterogeneous sources.
  • Familiarity with commercial and defense-related data platforms and standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate mission requirements into technical data-engineering solutions.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with mission partners and documenting technical specifications.
  • Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
  • Clearance: Must possess and maintain a Top-Secret clearance.


Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
