Full Job Description
The Sterile Processing Department at ChristianaCare Hospital is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and results-driven Sterile Processing Manager to lead our dedicated team on the Day Shift (Monday-Friday). This is a salaried leadership opportunity that also offers eligibility for a yearly management incentive program.

As the Sterile Processing Manager, you will oversee the 24/7 operations of the campus-specific Sterile Processing Department (SPD), ensuring the highest standards of patient safety, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance. This highly visible leadership role is instrumental in supporting surgical services and procedural areas by ensuring the timely delivery of safe, sterile, and properly functioning instrumentation and equipment.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic and collaborative healthcare leader who is passionate about quality, staff development, process improvement, and delivering exceptional service to both patients and clinical partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide operational and strategic leadership for all Sterile Processing Department functions across a 24-hour operation.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards, including AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission, OSHA, and other governing agencies.
  • Lead and mentor a team of supervisors, technicians, and support staff, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor departmental goals, performance metrics, and quality initiatives that support organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with Surgical Services, Infection Prevention, Supply Chain, and other clinical stakeholders to optimize workflows and service delivery.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, budgeting, productivity, and resource allocation to ensure operational efficiency and exceptional customer service.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives that enhance quality, safety, and operational performance while supporting a positive patient experience.
  • Serve as the department's subject matter expert for sterilization practices, instrumentation management, and regulatory readiness.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare, nursing or business management field.
  • Professional certification in an SPD specialty required (CRCST) and CHL
  • Five years of appropriate technical experience, leadership and project management experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Annual Compensation Range $79,497.60 - $127,212.80

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
