Minimum QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
- Current, unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Louisiana;
- Certification as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE-A, SANE-P, or both), or the ability to obtain certification within a timeframe established by the Department;
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience practicing as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner;
- Demonstrated experience conducting forensic medical examinations for sexual assault patients;
- Thorough knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and forensic evidence collection;
- Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills;
- Ability to establish productive working relationships with diverse public and private stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five (5) or more years of experience as a practicing Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner;
- Experience managing statewide or regional healthcare programs;
- Experience developing healthcare policies, clinical protocols, or quality improvement initiatives;
- Experience delivering professional education, clinical instruction, or workforce development programs;
- Leadership experience within multidisciplinary healthcare or criminal justice environments;
- Grant management or program administration experience;
- Experience working with rural healthcare systems, telehealth initiatives, or mobile healthcare delivery programs;
- Knowledge of state and federal grant requirements and reporting processes.
Job SpecificationThe Statewide SANE Coordinator serves as the Department's clinical and programmatic expert on sexual assault forensic nursing and is responsible for advancing a comprehensive, victim-centered, trauma-informed system of forensic healthcare services across Louisiana. The position will lead statewide initiatives to expand access to high-quality forensic medical examinations, develop and implement clinical standards and best practices, oversee statewide training and education efforts, coordinate multidisciplinary partnerships, and support strategic planning to ensure equitable access to services in every region of the state.
Job Duties and Other InformationThe SANE Coordinator will be responsible to:
- Lead the statewide administration, coordination, and continuous improvement of Louisiana's Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program;
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives that expand access to forensic nursing services throughout Louisiana;
- Coordinate implementation of Mobile SANE and TeleSANE programs;
- Develop statewide policies, procedures, and operational guidelines governing forensic nursing services;
- Monitor statewide program effectiveness and recommend improvements to Department leadership;
- Assist in establishing standardized forensic evidence collection procedures and quality assurance measures;
- Promote trauma-informed, victim-centered care throughout Louisiana's forensic healthcare system;
- Monitor emerging trends and recommend updates to statewide clinical practices and protocols;
- Serve as the Department's primary liaison with hospitals, healthcare systems, law enforcement agencies, district attorneys, advocacy organizations, children's advocacy centers, and other stakeholders;
- Represent the Department at meetings, conferences, and statewide committees;
- Serve on the Louisiana Sexual Assault Oversight Commission, as required by law;
- Other duties as assigned.
