IMEG is hiring a State & Local Tax Manager to join our Finance & Accounting team. This role ensures compliance with state and local tax obligations, maintains relationships with states and municipalities, and researches tax issues to determine the most advantageous and proper treatment under the tax law for the company. You will work closely with the Finance & Accounting team, including the M&A function, and interface with outside tax professionals when needed. The role also supports ongoing SALT reporting and filing obligations, including for acquired firms, while helping the company respond to changing tax laws and requirements.
What You'll Do- Participate actively with the Finance & Accounting Team, including the M&A function of the team
- Research, understand, and plan for state and local tax obligations, including timely responses to notices from tax authorities
- Interface with the firm's outside tax professionals when SALT guidance is required
- Ensure timely payment and reporting of ongoing SALT obligations related to income, franchise, sales, use and property tax
- Seek opportunities to delegate ongoing SALT obligations with continuous and risk-based oversight
- Develop an understanding of the underlying legal nature of transactions and the appropriate SALT response
- Support the F&A/M&A function with the transition and fulfillment of an acquired firm's SALT reporting and filing obligations
- Maintain confidentiality of all corporate, personnel and project/client related material
- Assist with ad-hoc projects and perform other duties as assigned
What You'll BringEducation and Experience- Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred, equivalent work experience may be considered
- 5+ years of accounting experience
- Experience or familiarity with tax software such as Avalara or similar
- Experience with filing state and local tax returns and sales/use tax
Skills and Abilities- Ability to forecast and meet deadlines while working with minimal supervision.

- Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook

Salary Range: $85,000-$120,00 per year
The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.
Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate's experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
