Essential Functions- Develops, prepares, and publishes the Highway Standard Drawings.
- Provides liaison for contractors, manufacturers, and material associations.
- Makes presentations to explain new/revised standards.
- Directs, organizes, develops, and motivates personnel to accomplish department objectives in the Standards and Specifications Unit.
- Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications- Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Illinois OR current registration as a Licensed Structural Engineer in the state of Illinois.
- Five years of experience in civil engineering.
Preferred Qualifications- Supervisory experience.
- Working knowledge of construction concepts.
- Working knowledge of CADD.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
Conditions of Employment- Valid driver's license.
- Physical ability to work around construction and plant sites where items may not be easily accessible, such as bending and climbing.
- Statewide and occasional out-of-state travel with overnight stays.
- Successful completion of a background screening.
