Responsibilities

  • Lead improvement activities on laser weld machine, press machine, crane, and scrap system as a controls engineer.
  • Manage upgrades and obsolescence of PLCs, drives, and electrical components.
  • Track open issues via PFS (Problem Follow Sheet) until resolution.
  • Ensure process safety, quality, integrity, and repeatability in manufacturing.
  • Improve communication through RJ, WIS, and PMs to maintain change points.
  • Collaborate across multifunctional teams including Contractors, Skilled trades, PE, Quality, and Production.

Overview

Who we're looking for

Toyota's Press Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Stamping Manufacturing Engineer.

The primary responsibility of this role is to maintain and improve our equipment in our shop.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the Press Department's objective to ensure our equipment will safely produce high quality panels for our customers, through efficient, reliable, and cost-effective processes.

What you'll be doing
  • Lead improvement activities on laser weld machine, press machine, crane and scrap system as a controls engineer
  • Lead upgrades and obsolescence activities including PLC, drives, and other electrical components
  • PFS (Problem Follow Sheet) tracking of all open issues until resolution
  • Ensure process safety, quality, integrity, and repeatability
  • Establishing/Improving RJ (Ryohin Joken)/WIS (Work Instruction Sheet)/ PMs (Project Management) to communicate and sustain change points.
  • Interface across multifunctional teams (Contractors/Skilled trades/PE/Quality/Production)


What you bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Applied Engineering OR an Associate's degree in technology/manufacturing with 5+ years of manufacturing/controls experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (either through co-op/intern or full-time position)
  • Proficient at XVL, AutoCAD and/or Inventor
  • Proficient in reading electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and tooling prints.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Project management experience
  • This position requires driving. A motor vehicle record that's acceptable by company standards is required for this position


Added bonus if you have
  • 3+ years of Stamping experience
  • Experience with upgrading/troubleshooting PLCs, drives, and other electrical components
  • Knowledge in TBP (Toyota Business Practices), JKK (Ji Kotei Kanketsu), RJ (Ryohin Joken), and FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis)
