A Day in the Life:Oversee the treatment of animals, including those that are sick, injured, and abused and are brought in by our nationally recognized Emergency Animal Medical Technicians. Administer excellent patient care in a well-equipped trauma hospital with in-house lab equipment, digital x-ray, and ultrasound. Perform physical exams, diagnostics, therapeutics, and determine appropriate disposition for animals. Treat shelter animals, including general surgery, dentistry, and spay/neuter. Provide accurate care instructions to a team of veterinary technicians. Serve as a positive leader and promote a professional image through interactions with employees, donors, stakeholders and the media.
Qualifications:- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or Veterinary Medical Doctor Degree and license to practice in Arizona (or ability to obtain AZ license).
- Active DEA license required.
- 2-3 years of experience in a veterinary practice required.
- Experience working in an animal shelter preferred.
- Above average surgical and dental skills preferred.
- Orthopedic surgical skills a plus.
- Must work well in a team environment and provide exceptional customer service internally and externally.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:Language Skills: Able to speak, read and write English; Spanish language helpful.
Mathematical Skills: Understanding of retail and cash handling operations required.
Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Explorer; able to learn other software programs as necessary. Proficiency with or ability to learn/use Chameleon software (for use with animals in a shelter environment).
