Full Job Description
Position Summary

Voya Energy is seeking a Staff TechnicalProgram Manager to help build and run the company-level program management system that keeps Voya executing against its most important technical, commercial, and operational priorities.

This role sits within Strategy & Operations and is designed for a strong cross-functional program manager who can operate at the corporate level while also engaging deeply with technical programs to understand timelines, dependencies, risks, and execution tradeoffs. Voya is developing a new category of energy generation technology, which requires tight coordination across product development, engineering, technology, fuel operations, and customer deployments. We need someone who can bring structure to these interconnected workstreams and give leadership clear visibility into what is on track, what is blocked, what depends on what, and where decisions are needed.

The ideal candidate combines technical depth with structured business judgment. They may come from engineering, hardware product development, technical program management, applied science, or technical consulting, but they must be able to move comfortably between technical detail and executive-level synthesis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a strong working understanding of Voya's technology, engineering, product roadmap, and fuel strategy
  • Work closely with functional leaders to build and maintain a clear view of program milestones, owners, timelines, dependencies, risks, blockers, and decision points. Surface key gaps, misallocated resources or incorrect assumptions.
  • Own and maintain Voya's company master timeline across product, engineering, technology, commercial, and fuels.
  • Create and maintain program dashboards, trackers, and operating documents that give leadership a clear, current view of execution status.
  • Support planning processes, including semi-annual planning and monthly planning sessions, OKR tracking, company milestone reviews, and long-range roadmap coordination.
  • Improve internal systems across tools such as Asana, Confluence, Google Drive, Slack and other company platforms.
  • Help make Voya's internal operating model clearer, cleaner, and more scalable as the company grows (ex. meeting cadences, workflows, etc.)

Qualifications
  • 7+ years of relevant experience, ideally combining hands-on technical experience with program management experience. Candidates should have direct experience in engineering, hardware development, product development, applied science, technical program management, or a related technical discipline, with the ability to understand how complex products are built and how technical teams operate.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physical sciences, or another technical field strongly preferred. Advanced technical degree or MBA a plus.
  • Strong technical fluency, with the ability to understand hardware/product development timelines, engineering dependencies, technical risks, and tradeoffs.
  • Strong program management fundamentals, including experience defining workstreams, milestones, owners, dependencies, risks, decision points, critical path items, and escalation paths.
  • Experience managing cross-functional programs with multiple stakeholders, ambiguous ownership, evolving timelines, and meaningful execution dependencies.
  • Ability to move between technical detail and executive-level synthesis.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain integrated roadmaps, master timelines, dashboards, trackers, operating documents, and leadership reporting systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to turn complex discussions into clear decisions, action items, program plans, and executive updates.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with excellent follow-through and the judgment to know when to escalate.

Location

Hayward, CA. Full-time on-site.

What We Offer
  • Competitive salary and equity compensation commensurate with experience
  • Unlimited PTO for exempt employees
  • 100% employer paid medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) plan with employer match
