Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for you to join our team as a Staff Systems Engineer based out of Linthicum, MD. Travel may be required up to 50%.

Do note the following: this position is contingent upon funding/contract award.

What You'll get to Do:

Work within the Systems Engineering, Integration & Test (SEIT) organization to define and meet all Product Support requirements. Lead a multi-disciplined team to develop and deliver Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) for Operational Test & Evaluation (OT&E) and ongoing sustainment. Candidate may have Control Account Manager (CAM) responsibilities to meet Cost, Schedule, and Performance targets using Earned Value Management System (EVMS) protocols. Candidate will have extensive customer-facing responsibilities.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver a full range of Product Support work products for a missionized, Group-5 unmanned aircraft system.
  • Work with customer stakeholders to define requirements and allocate requirements to IPT members and suppliers.
  • Lead or contribute to proposal estimates and negotiations.


Lead an IPT performing a diverse set of Product Support deliverables to include the following disciplines:

1. Design Influence specialty-engineering tasks (reliability, maintainability, Human Factors, Safety, etc.).
2. Product Support Analysis and Logistics Product Data development (Level Of Repair Analysis, Support Equipment Requirements, Facilities Requirements, Manpower and Skills Requirements, Spares modeling, Provisioning Data, etc.).
3. Development of Technical Manuals (IETM) and work procedures.
4. Development of Technical Training for operators and maintainers.
5. Management of the production/acquisition of spares and consumables.
6. Coordination of CONUS and OCONUS shipping activities.
7. Requirements flow-down and management of supplier contracted services;
8. Delivery of Contractor Logistics Services (CLS) to include Operational-Level operation and maintenance of a Group-5 unmanned aircraft system and associated ground support equipment.
9. Management of Intermediate and Depot level repairs and warranty tasks.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and a minimum of 12 years of related experience; or Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related experience; or PhD in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related experience.
  • Technical domain knowledge in at least two of the IPT/Product Support disciplines listed in Roles and Responsibilities (items 1-9 above).
  • Demonstrated success in leading, collaborating, and developing complex technical projects across functional teams.
  • Communicate, problem solve, develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment that requires continuous learning in technical skills.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 50%.
  • US citizenship and an active/current U.S. Government Secret Clearance required. Must have the ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance or higher.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with operation and maintenance of one or more of the following: military aircraft, command control & communications systems; and radar/electronic warfare systems.
  • Systems Engineering experience developing, allocating and verifying requirements.
  • Broad domain knowledge of the 12 Elements of Product Support and of Product Support Analysis specification TS-STD-0017.
  • Experience generating Logistics Product Data per specification GEIA-STD-0007, and software tools such as EAGLE, SLICWAVE, PowerLog-J, or similar.
  • Experience using Earned Value Management System (EVEMS) to ensure projects and contract deliverables are submitted on schedule and within budget.
  • Experience with DoW acquisition processes, proposals and negotiations, preferably applied to Product Support deliverables.


Primary Level Salary Range: $169,000.00 - $253,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
