Northrop Grumman Mission Systems' Baltimore and Partnered Sites (BaPs) division is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. This position supports the Advanced Radar Systems (ARS) business unit. This position will be located in Baltimore, MD.

What You’ll get to Do:

  • Customer and program management office (PMO) point of contact for all systems integration & test activities regarding technical details and effort progression
  • Managing technical experts and subordinates, ensuring team has resources required to complete tasks
  • Lead integration, testing & troubleshooting for radar systems engineering program(s) including mode integration and flight test, qualification test, acceptance testing, and design verification testing
  • Drive technical decisions and issue resolutions, as well as manage risks and opportunities
  • Support cross-functional engineering teams during proposal, design, manufacturing, and delivery phases of products in development and production phases
  • Supporting proposal development and new program acquisition efforts
  • Interpret statements of work assigned by program leadership
  • Interface with functional departments to secure team staffing
  • Work with suppliers and be able to articulate project requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline with 12 years of experience; or 10 years of relevant experience with a Masters degree; or 7 years of relevant experience with a Ph.D. 4 additional years may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • U.S Citizenship with active DoD Secret Clearance or higher
  • Expert in leading a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Expert verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate internally and external team members
  • Strong understanding of Systems Engineering concepts, including requirements analysis and verification planning and execution
  • Knowledge and experience with RF Hardware and test equipment
  • Knowledge and experience with Agile principles, tools, and implementation
  • Ability to qualify for program access based on customer requirements (SAP/SAR)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in scope definition, project planning, team leadership, cross-discipline interaction, and program mentorship
  • Experience as Technical lead, Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead, or other leadership role in a program office or business function
  • Experience executing the engineering project life cycle including: requirements analysis, design, development, integration, validation, verification, and sustainment
  • Advanced working knowledge of EO/IR, Radar, or SIGINT technical principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Knowledge and experience in experimental Flight Test planning and execution
  • Experience in managing teams that are responsible for Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) subsystem operational control
  • Experience with MATLAB coding, test scripting, data analysis and signal processing
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex HW/SW integration problems
  • Manage teams that drive system/subsystem qualification and acceptance test activities
    • Engineering design verification tests (DVTs)
    • Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) and Software Qualification (SQT) tests
    • Acceptance Testing (ATPs)
    • Safety of Flight (SoF) testing

This position is contingent upon transfer of DoD Secret Clearance with Special Program Access (SAP) prior to start.

Primary Level Salary Range: $169,000.00 - $253,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
