Job Description:

Confluent is hiring! We are seeking a Staff Surface Process Development Engineer to join our dynamic team of industry leading experts to develop, optimize, and implement robust Surface processes for Nitinol medical devices.

Responsibilities:
  • Work as part of Confluent's multifunctional Process Development Team responsible for through process development, optimization, validation, and manufacturing transfer of medical device production processes.
  • Develop and optimize robust surface processes including microblasting, chemical etching, chemical polishing, electropolishing, cleaning and surface quality standards.
  • Use statistical analysis and Design of Experiments (DOE) to characterize processes, identify key parameters, optimize performance, and support data driven decisions.
  • Perform and support root cause investigations for process and product issues and drive appropriate corrective actions.
  • Analyze process and product data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Transfer developed processes to manufacturing sites, including documentation, training, validation support, and troubleshooting during implementation.
  • Collaborate with operators, technicians, engineers, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure processes meet product and customer requirements.
  • Create and maintain work instructions, visual standards, engineering studies, drawings, and other manufacturing documentation.
  • Support process validation and continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, and structured problem solving principles.
  • Manage multiple technical priorities and independently drive assigned work to completion.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Materials, Biomedical or Chemical Engineering, or related discipline and a minimum of 5 years relevant engineering experience.
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel.
  • Experience with Minitab or JMP desirable.
