Full Job Description
Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Optical, Materials Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in product design, process development, or manufacturing engineering in a New Product Introduction (NPI) role.
  • Experience launching high-volume consumer hardware products at Contract Manufacturers (CM) and Original Design Manufacturers (ODM).
  • Experience in smartphone-class camera manufacturing, including active alignment (AA), lens fabrication, Voice Coil Motors (VCM) design, and image sensor integration.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience developing camera module integration processes, optical testing systems (MTF calibration), and cosmetic inspection standards.
  • Demonstrated bottom-line project management experience, including complex data handling, product documentation, risk mitigation, and technical critical decision-making.
  • Working knowledge of Quality and Statistical tools (e.g., Statistical Process Control, Cp/Cpk studies, Gage R&R, FMEA, and DOEs) to drive systematic improvements.
  • Ability to exhibit high innovation, professional integrity, and meticulous attention-to-detail under tight launch timelines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to manage complex cross-functional stakeholders and convey technical risks to executive leadership.

In this role, you will provide critical engineering and manufacturing capabilities to deliver camera systems for Google's consumer hardware.
You will serve as the senior technical lead and primary Point of Contact (POC) for cross-functional teams, tier-1 camera suppliers, module integrators, and key component vendors. You will drive technical operational readiness, early Design for Manufacturing (DFM) engagements, and quality program execution from New Product Introduction (NPI) phases through high-volume Mass Production and lead yield improvement initiatives, process optimization, supplier performance reporting, and technical risk mitigation across the supply chain.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
