Full Job Description
About the Role:

We're looking for a Staff Full-Stack Engineer to help shape the technical direction of our marketing and customer engagement platform. In this role, you'll drive the architecture and development of data-driven, customer-facing features and backend services that power real-time personalization, campaign delivery, and transaction support. Our stack is Ruby on Rails on the backend and Vue.js on the frontend - and we value engineers who lead with strong product instincts, deep technical judgment, and a pragmatic mindset.

This is a high-impact opportunity for a senior technical leader who thrives on cross-functional influence, enjoys mentoring engineers at all levels, and wants to make a direct mark in both the MarTech and Payments spaces. We believe the best engineers today are fluent in AI - comfortable using AI-assisted development tools and thoughtful about how AI capabilities can be woven into product features and platform experiences.

This is a hybrid role based out of our Broomfield, Colorado office.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Set the technical direction for key platform initiatives - defining architecture, establishing patterns, and driving alignment across engineering teams.
  • Full-Stack Development: Design and build robust, secure, and scalable systems across our Ruby on Rails and Vue.js stack, with ownership from API design and data modeling through to rich front-end experiences.
  • Mentorship: Coach and level-up engineers across the team - through code reviews, design feedback, pairing, and deliberate investment in others' growth.
  • Architecture & Performance: Own architectural decisions for complex systems, lead technical design reviews, and drive meaningful improvements to backend and frontend performance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Product, Design, and Customer Success to translate business problems into sound technical solutions that deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Engineering Standards: Raise the bar for code quality, testing, security, and observability across the team - not just on your own work.
  • AI-Augmented Development: Leverage AI-assisted tooling to accelerate delivery, and help the team think critically about where AI capabilities can add genuine value to the product.
  • Agile Delivery: Lead by example in an iterative, fast-paced environment - shipping frequently, adapting quickly, and helping the team do the same.
  • Incident Leadership: Drive resolution of complex production incidents and contribute to post-incident reviews that prevent recurrence.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant full-stack scope.
  • Deep expertise in Ruby on Rails, including ActiveRecord, background job processing, API design, and service-oriented patterns.
  • Strong Vue.js proficiency (or JS related), including SPA architecture, component design, state management, and front-end performance.
  • Proven track record of owning and delivering complex, multi-quarter technical initiatives end-to-end.
  • Expert-level RESTful API design, including versioning, authentication, and third-party integrations.
  • Strong database fundamentals, particularly MySQL or similar relational databases, including schema design and query optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical discussions, influence architectural decisions, and drive alignment across engineering teams.
  • Experience mentoring senior and mid-level engineers and contributing to a culture of technical excellence.
  • Deep understanding of marketing or customer engagement platforms - campaign management, personalization engines, A/B testing, or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills: able to distill complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and leading delivery within cross-functional product teams.
  • Demonstrated fluency with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) and the ability to evaluate where and how AI/ML capabilities can be integrated into product features.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience with Go (Golang) and/or Node.js.
  • Experience integrating LLM APIs (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI) or building AI-powered product features.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts such as embeddings, vector search, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or fine-tuning.
  • AWS experience, including deploying and scaling cloud-based applications.
  • Hands-on experience with OpenSearch for search or analytics.
  • Use of Redis for caching, session management, or background jobs.
  • Exposure to Kafka or similar messaging systems in high-throughput environments.
  • Familiarity with Docker for local development or production deployment.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.
  • Exposure to GDPR, CCPA, or similar data privacy regulations.
  • Background in B2B SaaS products or high-volume transaction systems.
  • Experience with Android or iOS development.
