About the Role:

AlphaSense is seeking an exceptional engineer to own our Excel plugin strategy, bringing the power of AI-driven market intelligence directly into the workflow of financial professionals worldwide. You'll build the bridge between our cutting-edge AI platform and the tool that millions of analysts, investors, and researchers use every day - Microsoft Excel. You'll create experiences that feel magical to users. Your work will directly impact how the world's leading financial institutions make critical decisions.
Who You Are:

• 10+ years building and operating large scale production systems
• Deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern development practices
• Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, state management, and event-driven architectures
• Experience with enterprise software deployment, updates, and version management
• Track record of building performant applications with excellent error handling and recovery
• Excellence in debugging complex integration issues and memory/performance optimization
• Ability to mentor teams and establish development best practices

Preferred:

• Production experience with Office JavaScript API, VSTO, or COM add-ins
• Knowledge of Excel's calculation engine, object model, and common power-user patterns
• Understanding of financial modeling, data analysis workflows, or trading systems
• Experience with React/TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks
• Background in building offline-capable applications with sync mechanisms
• Experience with WebSocket, real-time data feeds, or streaming architectures

Technical Environment:

• Office JavaScript API / Office Add-ins framework
• TypeScript, React, and modern frontend tooling
• Complex state management between local and cloud data
• Enterprise authentication (SSO, OAuth, SAML)
• Cross-platform support (Windows and Mac)

What You'll Do:

You'll fundamentally change how financial professionals interact with market intelligence. Within your first year, you'll ship a plugin used by thousands of analysts at leading financial institutions, making AI-powered research as simple as typing an Excel formula. You'll eliminate the context-switching between Excel and research platforms, saving analysts hours daily while improving the quality of their analysis.

More importantly, you'll establish the technical foundation and best practices that will guide our Office integration strategy for years. You'll mentor a team of engineers in the unique challenges of desktop development, raising the bar for quality and performance in an environment where every millisecond matters.

For base compensation, we set standard ranges for all roles based on function and level benchmarked against similar stage growth companies and internal comparables. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience/expertise and may vary from the amounts listed below.
