We are seeking a
Staff Scientist to join the Innovative Research for Empowering Activity and Community Health (InREACH) research team, led by Principal Investigator Jason Mendoza, MD, MPH, in the Public Health Sciences Division of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. The Staff Scientist will support the ongoing work of studies focused on the cultural adaptation of behavioral interventions for Hispanic/Latino populations related to physical activity and cancer survivorship. The Staff Scientist will also support related work in general populations of cancer survivors, including patients undergoing cancer therapy, as well as extensions of this work in people living with diabetes.
ResponsibilitiesThe Staff Scientist will be responsible for the implementation of physical activity behavioral interventions, measurement of 24-hour movement outcomes, measurement of socio-cultural factors, as well as the application of qualitative methods to triangulate quantitative results for ongoing studies.
Responsibilities include:- Developing and implementing culturally-adapted research interventions for Hispanic/Latino populations
- Leading or supporting intervention development activities, in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team
- Grant writing and manuscript preparation
- Analyzing data and presenting research findings in presentations and manuscripts
- Oversight of research staff and study progress
QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:- PhD or doctoral equivalent in health services, communications, psychology, or equivalent program.
- Strong background in qualitative methods, community-engaged approaches, and experience with Hispanic/Latino populations.
- Experience conducting and analyzing qualitative interviews
- Experience with manuscript writing, preparation, and submission
- Fluent in English and Spanish, due to the bilingual nature of study recruitment, assessment, and trial intervention
- Experience with RedCap
- Strong written and oral communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:- 2 years of post-doctoral qualitative research experience in a related field
- Experience in the approval and conduct of behavioral trials in NCI-cooperative groups such as the Children's Oncology Group.
- First-authored or co-authored research publications in the area of health disparities research/health communications research and/or physical activity research
- Experience managing project teams
The annual base salary range for this position is from $84,406 to $191,755, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
