Our project is developing a new class of robotic platforms for social interaction. You will work with a cross-disciplinary team of designers, hardware engineers, and software engineers to develop and support hardware that enables innovative new interactions. Your responsibilities will include background research, system design and development, prototype fabrication, and testing and maintenance of hardware.
Job Responsibilities
Design and develop hardware prototypes for robots and subassemblies
Evaluate component options for robot sensors and actuators
Research and apply new techniques in the design and control of interactive robots
Design and implement controls algorithms
Test and repair robot hardware platforms to be used for R&D
Liaise with production team to facilitate technology transfer of R&D outcomes
Contribute creative ideas and communicate engineering tradeoffs during the design process
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary team of designers and engineers
Requirements for position:
M.S. in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
3+ years hands-on experience in industry developing electromechanical systems
Experience with rapid hardware prototyping techniques and equipment
Experience with embedded firmware, controls, and real-time systems
Experience with CAD/CAM
Work authorization in the US
Willingness to travel internationally and work across time zones
Preferred qualifications:
Experience with actuator design and controls with any of these characteristics: compliant, low-cost, quiet, soft, safe around humans
Experience with autonomous robotics and human-robot interaction
Experience with industrial design
Experience developing consumer products
Chinese language proficiency
