Role SummaryYou will champion and deliver user experience design across Rivian's future-forward digital offerings. You will focus on complex features that live across the vehicle interface and the mobile app. This role centers on designing and delivering intuitive, thorough, and delightful interactions. You will become very knowledgeable on key functions in the product, understanding the underlying hardware or mechanical aspects in order to design for these elements.
Working a hybrid onsite schedule at our Palo Alto Digital Studio offices, you will collaborate with design, engineering, product, and hardware teams to distill experience goals into concrete requirements. Candidates strongly preferred with significant experience in shipping complex software and hardware products.
Responsibilities- Lead UX/UI design for key features in the Rivian vehicle and mobile experience.
- Experience with automotive UX design or other complex hardware/software products is a
- plus.
- Familiarity with designing companion mobile app features is a plus.
- Translate desired experiences into clear, actionable requirements.
- Collaborate deeply with product managers and engineering partners.
- Benchmark industry UI/UX and feature offerings as needed to ensure designs are
- unique and pushing the envelope in the industry.
- Present design concepts to leadership and cross-functional teams, advocating for a
- user-centered approach.
- Deliver high quality, organized production files and provide any and all clarifications
- needed to engineering partners.
- QA your designs in the vehicle and app to pixel perfect final execution.
QualificationsPortfolio Required: Include a link to your portfolio showcasing relevant credentials and work samples that demonstrate expertise for this role. Applications without a portfolio link & access will not be considered.
- Bachelor's or Master's in Interaction Design, Human Factors, Product Design, or related discipline.
- 7+ years' experience delivering end-to-end digital UX for an automotive company, digital technology company or similar domains.
- Strong portfolio highlighting UX solutions relating to those requirements.
- Deep proficiency with digital UX design and prototyping tools. (Figma, ProtoPie, or similar)
- Proficiency with AI workflows and AI prototypes is a big plus.
- Proven ability to collaborate with user research.
- Collaborative mindset-easily partners with product, engineering, and design teams spanning hardware, embedded software, and cloud environments.
- Comfort with mobile OS design considerations and frameworks is a plus.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities, able to articulate complex hardware/software UX strategies.
Pay DisclosureThe salary range for this role is $167,400 - $209,300 for California based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs.
The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards.
