Full Job Description
Staff Pharmacist - Remote, TX

Our Staff Pharmacists provide quality pharmaceutical services to long-term-care and institutionalized residents, under the direction and supervision of the Pharmacist-In-Charge (PIC). This position participates in and oversees workflow for the dispensing of medication in accordance with all state and federal regulations in addition to M Chest Pharmacy policy. Staff Pharmacists aim to ensure that medications provided to residents are safe, accurate and available in a timely manner.

Schedule:

Full-time

Monday - Friday 9:30am - 6:30pm

*Weekend Rotation: Every 3rd Saturday

Days off will occur during the week when working Saturday

Schedule may be subject to change to include an evening shift if the need arises

Specifically, you will be asked to:
  • Performs and/or oversees the completion of all routine and tasks, including but not limited to:
  • Evaluate medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dosage, route of administration, potential drug interactions, and special geriatric considerations, warnings/precautions associated with prescribed medication, potential adverse reactions, and stability.
  • Procures and maintains all required documentation in accordance with state and federal regulations, as well as M CHEST policy.
  • Ensures accuracy of filled medications.
  • Conduct audits of automated dispensing machines to ensure accuracy of filled medications.
  • Provides Clinical expertise by responding professionally to medication related questions.
  • Assists the PIC with instructing, directing and overseeing pharmacy technicians and staff.
  • Follows current guidelines for preparing all compounds, including I.V. therapy.
  • Understand and follow M CHEST Policy and Procedures.
  • Accepts ownership and accountability for the successful completion of assigned functions and achievement of goals.
  • Strives for compliance by all staff with internal controls and state and federal regulations.
  • Participates in the development and successful implementation of plan(s) of improvement as indicated, recommended and/or required by Supervisor, Manager, or any other home office or regulatory compliance consultant. Communicates progress toward goals and ongoing obstacles to supervisor and company management team, verbally and/or in writing or as dictated.


Qualified Applicants will have:
  • Applicants must currently live in Texas to be considered
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy or PharmD
  • A current, unrestricted Texas Pharmacist License
  • Leadership and supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to quickly identify problems and find effective solutions
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Basic computer skills; experience with Microsoft Excel and Word preferred
  • Ability to make independent decisions
  • Ability to multitask and complete jobs without supervision
  • Ability to assess information and make prudent, professional decisions.
  • Ability to work and produce results under pressure.
  • Ability to effectively and harmoniously interact with facility, management and other employees at all levels; promotes teamwork and professionalism.
  • Must be dependable and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English
