Description

Job Title: Staff Pharmacist

Location: Columbia, SC

Position Summary:

The Staff Pharmacist will work closely with the Pharmacist in Charge. The pharmacist will be responsible for providing pharmaceutical services in accordance with policies and standard operating procedures set by Cooperative Health, Inc. and within the constraints of the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy. The pharmacist will perform duties under the direct supervision of the Chief Pharmacy Officer/Director of Pharmacy Services and is responsible for dispensing medications, ordering and receiving medications through the company's wholesaler, maintaining drug utilization records, analyzing patient drug profiles, and counseling patients. The staff pharmacist will utilize the EMR and consult with other healthcare providers as warranted to ensure the best level of care for patients of Cooperative Health

Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
  • Complete all training requirements to stay up-to-date on policies and procedures for the 340B drug program.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent patient care information to ensure patient rights are protected.
  • Encompasses leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work with and supervise pharmacy technicians and/or other personnel.
  • Maximize workflow by concentrating efforts on work or functions that only a pharmacist is able to perform, minimizing time spent doing work that auxiliary personnel should and could be doing.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to plan, monitor and review, and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of drug regimens and provide advice on drug applications and characteristics.
  • Assist in the preparation of the pharmacy for inspection or audits by Government agencies, Board of Pharmacy, Insurance Carriers and assist in the maintenance of an orderly pharmacy department.
  • Perform other related duties which may be assigned by the Chief Pharmacy Officer/Director of pharmacy.

Education & Experience:
  • Valid license in good standing to practice as a staff pharmacist in the state of South Carolina.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years experience as a pharmacist
  • BLS Certification
  • MTM Certification
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, visitors, family members and the general public; regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or socioeconomic status.
  • Must maintain a working knowledge of Pharmacy software and hardware.
  • Must be able to adapt to change and adjust plans to thrive in a community health center setting/ clinic pharmacy
  • Must have an overall up-beat and happy temperament.
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Must possess typing skills, ability to check and send emails and general computer knowledge
