Full Job Description
Role Description

Form Energy is hiring a Staff Manufacturing Engineer, Advanced Manufacturing to lead the design, development, and commissioning of next-generation, high-volume automated manufacturing lines for our breakthrough energy storage technology. This role reports into our Manager, Advanced Manufacturing and will serve as a key technical leader bridging internal teams and external equipment vendors to ensure robust, scalable, and manufacturable line designs. As part of our Advanced Manufacturing team, you will work cross-functionally with Process Engineering, Equipment Engineering, Operations, and external partners to bring complex production systems from concept through startup. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of grid-scale energy manufacturing and have a direct impact on building one of the most important manufacturing platforms of the next decade.

Relocation assistance is available.

What you'll do:
  • Lead technical engagement with equipment vendors to define, review, and refine designs for highly automated, high-volume manufacturing lines
  • Provide critical design feedback on mechanical systems, material handling, and automation strategies to ensure manufacturability, reliability, and maintainability
  • Identify and mitigate manufacturing risks early through design reviews, DFMEA/PFMEA, and hands-on evaluation of vendor proposals
  • Own vendor performance from specification through FAT, SAT, installation, and commissioning
  • Drive resolution of technical issues during build, integration, and startup phases, including hands-on troubleshooting of mechanical systems and line interactions
  • Collaborate closely with Process Engineering to ensure equipment design meets process requirements, throughput targets, and quality standards
  • Develop and refine line layouts, system architectures, and equipment specifications to support scale-up from prototype to high-volume production
  • Establish standards and best practices for equipment design, vendor management, and commissioning within Advanced Manufacturing
  • Support ramp-up activities, including line validation, performance optimization, and sustained production readiness

What you'll bring:
  • 6-10+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, equipment engineering, or advanced manufacturing environments
  • Demonstrated experience designing, building, or commissioning automated manufacturing lines (e.g., high-throughput, continuous, or semi-continuous systems)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with deep understanding of machine design, material handling systems, and real-world manufacturing constraints
  • Proven ability to manage and influence external equipment vendors, including driving technical decisions and holding vendors accountable
  • Experience with commissioning activities (FAT/SAT), troubleshooting complex systems, and resolving integration challenges
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and drive alignment across engineering, operations, and vendors

Where you'll work:

This role is based at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV-an easy commute from the city of Pittsburgh, PA. This 550,000-square-foot facility is our hub for high-volume battery production and a leader in the new era of American energy manufacturing. Relocation assistance is available.
