Full Job Description
About This Role:

As Staff Instrumentation and Controls Engineer, Deployment - you will be a deployment and execution lead for the "nervous system" of Crusoe's hyperscale data centers. You will spearhead the installation and integration of the sophisticated BMS/EPMS and SCADA solutions that allow us to monitor and control our high-performance computing environments with surgical precision. This role is fundamental to Crusoe's mission: by successfully bringing online and integrating field-level HVAC, electrical, and monitoring infrastructure into a seamless, operational fabric, you ensure our AI-optimized cloud remains resilient, efficient, and scalable from day one.

This leadership position demands a technical authority who can bridge the gap between engineering design and on-site field execution. You won't just be maintaining systems; you will be driving complex rollouts, overseeing contractor integration, and implementing the deployment standards and commissioning frameworks that scale our global footprint. We are seeking a proactive problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and is passionate about bringing automated systems to life, working with others, and driving consistency and efficiencies across our startup through operational handover. This is a full-time position.

What You'll Be Working On:
  • System Deployment & Execution: Lead the field deployment, integration, and startup of automation solutions for BMS/EPMS systems, ensuring seamless integration and monitor with electrical, and cooling infrastructure.
  • Standardization & Implementation: Enforce system standards, frameworks, and deployment patterns for controls, BMS, and EPMS rollouts across multiple projects and sites.
  • SCADA & Graphics Configuration: Deploy and configure dashboards, HMIs, and operator workstations, ensuring site personnel have clear, functional visibility and control over complex building and power systems.
  • Startup Governance & Escalation Resolution: Oversee system integrators during standard deployments and point-to-point checkouts to ensure strict compliance with design standards, and operate as the controls escalation point to troubleshoot complex automation integration, system inconsistencies, and network integration issues.
  • Protocol Integration & Troubleshooting: Collaborate with design engineers, contractors, and OEM partners in the field to configure, integrate, and troubleshoot networks utilizing BACnet, Modbus, OPC-UA, and MQTT protocols.
  • Site Validation & Handover: Conduct system testing, simulation, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) to validate functionality, sequencing, and data accuracy prior to operational handover.
  • System Optimization & Turnover: Ensure controls platforms correctly collect and push real-time and historical data, enabling performance insight and analysis.
  • Site Support & Training: Mentor and train other controls engineers, on control system operation, troubleshooting best practices, and execution methodology.

What You'll Bring to the Team:
  • Deployment & Integration Mastery: Extensive professional experience in the physical deployment, integration, and startup of PLC, SCADA, BMS, and EPMS platforms.
  • Mission-Critical Execution: Proven ability to successfully execute, deploy, and startup automation systems in data center or other high-availability environments.
  • Protocol & Networking Proficiency: Deep hands-on familiarity with configuring and troubleshooting control protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, OPC-UA, and MQTT, integrating diverse field devices into unified platforms.
  • Industrial Systems Literacy: Strong practical knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, PLC/DDC logic, and industrial automation equipment operations.
  • Project & Field Leadership: Demonstrated ability to translate engineering designs into physical installations, driving deployment timelines, and navigating a fast paced construction environment.
  • On-Site Problem Solving: A track record of solving complex automation challenges, quickly diagnosing integration issues, and ensuring systems operate exactly as designed.
  • Mandatory Education: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.

Bonus Points:
  • Advanced Academic Credentials: A Master's degree in a relevant engineering or technical field.
  • Industry Certifications: Relevant professional certifications in specific PLC or SCADA platforms. Ignition and Rockwell preferred.
  • Cybersecurity Focus: Experience ensuring controls implementations comply with industrial cybersecurity best practices.
  • Sustainability Alignment: A passion for leveraging automation to meet company-wide energy efficiency and sustainability goals.

Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation
  • Restricted Stock Units
  • Paid time off & paid holidays
  • Comprehensive health, dental & vision insurance
  • Employer contributions to HSA account
  • Paid parental leave
  • Paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability
  • Professional development & tuition reimbursement
  • Mental health & wellness support
  • Commuter benefits (parking & transit)
  • Cell phone stipend
  • 401(k) Retirement plan with company match up to 4% of salary
  • Volunteer time off

Compensation Range

Compensation will be paid in the range of up to $148,000 - $170,000 + Bonus. Restricted Stock Units are included in all offers. Compensation to be determined by the applicants knowledge, education, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
