Job DescriptionProvide geotechnical engineering support and consulting services for a variety of projects and clients under the guidance of senior engineers and project managers. Responsibilities may include assisting with field investigations, subsurface explorations, soil logging, construction observation, and sample collection. Perform basic engineering analyses, calculations, and evaluations using geotechnical data to support project recommendations and design efforts.
Assist in the preparation of geotechnical engineering reports, technical memoranda, plans, specifications, and construction documents. Review laboratory and field testing results for accuracy and inclusion in project deliverables. Conduct site visits and construction observations to verify compliance with project plans, specifications, and geotechnical recommendations.
Support project teams with proposal preparation, cost estimating, project tracking, and data management. Research and help resolve geotechnical design and construction issues while developing practical engineering solutions. Apply fundamental engineering principles to interpret data, communicate findings, and collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Gain experience working on a diverse range of projects across multiple sectors, including transportation, public infrastructure, commercial development, energy, industrial facilities, and other civil engineering applications. This role provides opportunities for professional growth, technical training, and progression toward professional licensure.
ResponsibilitiesFollow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.Demonstrate quality practices and acumen.Provide consistent quality standards on proposal and project delivery.Proficient engineering professional responsible for managing and executing small projects of minimal complexity.Assist in developing the scope of work for routine projects. Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, specifications, and other project related documents.Analyze data, and perform engineering calculations and analysis for PE review.Conduct, coordinate or supervise field investigations, laboratory testing, and evaluation of respective data. Develop plans, schedules, conducts, and/or coordinates detailed phases of assigned project work.Work closely with senior-level project manager and Professional Engineer of Record to gain project management and engineering experience.Makes design recommendations, adaptations and modifications for review and consideration by the Professional Engineer of Record.Prepares work scope, proposals and reports and plans investigations for approval by senior level professionals. May supervise field staff including graduate/field engineers, engineering technicians, exploration teams, laboratory staff and other support personnel.Interacts with client and project team in developing scope of services and communicating project progress.Works under the supervision of a Professional Engineer and a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Must be a registered E.I. within one (1) year of hire date
- Master's degree in Engineering preferred.
- A valid driver's license with acceptable violation history may be required.
