Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Staff Geologist to join our mining service delivery team in Salt Lake City, UT. While this position requires both field and office work, the candidate should expect to spend 25 to 40% of their time in the field.

This position will start immediately, and would be based out of the Salt Lake City, Utah office. As part of our Resilience Environment team, you'll help improve quality of life. You will work alongside Engineers, Project/Program Managers, and Technical Experts on various activities in support of diverse environmental assessment, design, and remediation projects.

Role accountabilities:

As part of this role, you will be responsible for assisting Project Managers (PMs) and Task Managers (TMs) in planning and executing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks.

Fieldwork will also be a key aspect of this position, which will offer you an opportunity to oversee teams conducting drilling for soil sampling and groundwater well installation, groundwater sampling, subcontractor oversight, operation and maintenance of remediation systems, vapor intrusion/soil gas surveys, among other tasks. It is essential to conduct fieldwork with a focus on health and safety.

Your core duties will include:

• Plan and implement site investigations, field studies, remediation programs, and mine-related process evaluations in collaboration with multidisciplinary project teams
• Conduct and oversee field activities, including environmental sampling, drilling and well installation oversight, pilot testing, and operation and maintenance of treatment systems
• Coordinate and manage laboratory testing programs, including routine and specialized analytical methods, to support environmental, mining, and water treatment projects
• Analyze and interpret technical data; prepare reports, cost estimates, health and safety plans, regulatory reviews, proposals, and other project deliverables
• Support the design and execution of bench-scale and pilot studies through technical calculations, process evaluations, and development of P&IDs and testing plans

Manage project tasks, schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and client communications to ensure successful project execution.

Collaborate with engineers, hydrologists, hydrogeologists, geologists, and other technical specialists to develop practical and innovative solutions.

Mentor and support junior staff through technical guidance, field training, and professional development opportunities.

In summary, this position encompasses both office work (task management, data analysis, report preparation, scope preparation, and client communications) as well as field work.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's of Science in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, or closely related field (i.e., environmental science, physical science)
• 4+ years of experience in geology, geochemistry, or engineering field
• Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

• Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training
• MSHA 24-hour New Miner training
• Experience in geochemistry or chemical engineering with a focus on metals and radionuclides as well as experience in an environmental analytical laboratory

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $68,400- $102,600.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
