Meet the team:

The Mesa Facilities Engineering Maintenance team is divided across shifts working 24/7 to cover all medical device manufacturing operations and the L&D distribution group.

The Staff Facilities Engineer, under supervision, will perform skilled duties in the operation and maintenance of utility and building systems, associated controls, sub-systems, auxiliaries, and accessories. Initiates repairs, tests, and calibrates systems and equipment, and diagnoses equipment problems. May be assigned lead duties and responsibilities. Assists in resolving questions regarding services performed.

Where you come in:

  • Performs and facilitates operation and maintenance of utility and building systems.
  • Performs skilled duties in the operation, maintenance and alteration/repair of any utility and building system, controls, sub-systems, and accessories.
  • Performs a variety of test procedures standard to the trade such as, but not limited to taking readings on boilers, testing medium temperature of water, steamed condensate, water hardness, etc. to maintain and extend the life of equipment.
  • Tests and calibrates systems and equipment, diagnoses equipment problems and initiates/completes repairs through the various equipment and service management systems.
  • Communicates and documents corrective action necessary to avoid malfunctions, energy excess, shutdown, or damage of any system.
  • Advises supervisor of delays, problems, and work assignment progress.
  • Carries out duties and responsibilities with view toward Department goals, energy conservation and support of academic, research and institutional goals.
  • Assists in the maintenance of purchasing, machinery history, and equipment records.
  • Assists in the maintenance of files related to utility and building systems diagrams generated from field investigations.
  • May occasionally be assigned lead duties responsibilities including training, scheduling, project management and construction management.
  • Maintains acceptable attendance record, punctuality, and meeting deadlines.
  • Participates in training sessions and seminars.
  • Maintains a functional awareness of the typical hazards of the workplace as well as the special hazards that may be encountered at Dexcom, such as biohazards, radiation, chemicals, etc. Follows established procedures for dealing with such potential hazards.
  • Promptly reports accidents on the job, preparing and submitting accident reports.
  • Adheres to policies, procedures and practices on safety and operation instructions. Complies with rules and regulations applicable to building codes.


What makes you successful:

  • Ability to oversee the utilities operation, design construction, layout, equipment installation.
  • Experience in GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) systems.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and purified water systems.
  • Knowledge of building automation and controls systems.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience supporting commercial manufacturing facilities under GMP regulatory compliance in the pharmaceutical, medical device or biotechnology industry.
  • Must have experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, work execution, equipment records, and repair histories.
  • Experience in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) type Work Order System to achieve a more efficient and affect documented system.
  • Must be proficient in the Microsoft office suite and have experience operating in software systems for facilities management under CFR 21-part 11 compliance.
