Full Job Description
As a Staff Engineer on our Water Resources team, you'll gain hands-on experience across a diverse portfolio of projects focused on stormwater management, flood mitigation, water quality, and environmental permitting.

This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers on local and national projects while collaborating across disciplines including Water Resources, Transportation, and Wastewater. Because we're a close-knit team, you'll receive direct mentorship, meaningful project responsibilities, and exposure to the full project lifecycle-from planning and modeling through design and construction.

What You'll Do
  • Support the planning, design, and delivery of water resources projects involving stormwater management, flood mitigation, urban flooding, and water quality improvement
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analyses and modeling to evaluate drainage systems and develop infrastructure solutions
  • Assist with storm sewer design, culvert design, infiltration basins, stormwater treatment systems, and other drainage infrastructure
  • Support environmental permitting efforts and regulatory compliance activities
  • Contribute to projects focused on stormwater retrofits, watershed protection, and improving water quality before discharge into receiving waters
  • Assist with flood studies, and stream modeling efforts
  • Support grant-funded projects and planning initiatives that help communities implement resilient infrastructure solutions
  • Collaborate closely with Water Resources, Transportation, and Wastewater teams to develop integrated solutions
  • Conduct field investigations and support construction-phase activities
  • Communicate effectively with project teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire
  • 2-4 years of civil engineering experience, with water resources experience preferred
  • Familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software such as XPSWMM, HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, or similar tools
  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS, Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer Drainage, or related engineering software is preferred
  • Interest in stormwater design, flood mitigation, and water quality projects
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
  • Eagerness to learn, grow technically, and take on increasing project responsibilities

Compensation Range

$79,200.00 - 98,500.00

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in accordance with the Minnesota Omnibus Labor and Industry Policy Bill Article 7 Section 2 amendment to the Equal Pay Act of 2003. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, skills, prior work experience, competencies, and geographic work location. The total annual compensation package may consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate, after a qualifying period, in our performance and discretionary incentive bonus program(s).
