Full Job Description
Staff Engineer, Geotechnical Dams & Hydraulics for GFT Infrastructure, Inc. to work for our Oakland, CA Regional Office. May telecommute up to 2 days/week. Perform engineering calculations, technical studies, + prepare plans + specs for variety of projects, incl new dams, dams + spillway rehabilitation, decommissioning of dams, levees, outlet facilities (gates, valves + piping), erosion + sediment control plans, stormwater management facilities, culverts + outfalls, open channels, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, floodplain studies, inundation mapping, structure foundations, natural + engineered slopes, dredging operations, + dam inspections. Provide general oversight, control, + management of design-related activities for a project, incl technical reviews. Prepare reports + letters. Determine client requirements + develop designs + contract documents. Work w/ client + other disciplines to prepare designs dictated by scope of work. Review + approve hydrologic/hydraulic calculations + modeling involved in evaluation + design of dams, waterways + associated facilities/structures. Review + approve stability analyses of dam embankments + associated facilities/structures. Review vendor drawings + evaluates need for design changes + make project recommendations. Consult w/ construction personnel concerning field conditions, sequencing + scheduling. Ensure production of drawings + specifications meet scope, schedule, cost + quality requirements and federal, state, + local requirements. Provide direction + supervision for jr. level engineers. Manage subsurface investigation programs. Communicate independently w/ clients. Work w/ multi-disciplinary teams + lead tasks + simple project teams. May undergo background checks incl MV check and drug screening. Little national travel to client locations involved but will not exceed 60 days/yr and 10 days/trip. Salary $155,667 per year. Must have Bachelors Engineering or related field and 4 years relevant exp designing water facilities. Also requires the following skills (4 yrs exp) in: design software and GIS; HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS and SITES; CADD; MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook); and experience managing small work groups and project tasks.
