Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking a Staff Embedded Software Engineer Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead to lead a cross-discipline engineering team, manage cost accounts across one or more programs, and serve as a primary interface with Engineering and Program Management. The selected candidate will operate in a fast-paced environment with high expectations, a wide variety of technical and leadership responsibilities, and a strong emphasis on collaboration and teamwork.

As a Staff Embedded Software Engineer IPT Lead within the Software and Digital Technologies (SWDT) Organization you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Lead and direct cross-functional engineering teams during a program's EMD phase
  • Develop and execute to project budgets and schedules, including Earned Value Management System (EVMS), critical path management, Estimates-at-Completion (EACs), and workload forecasts
  • Lead staffing efforts for each team, ensuring appropriate skill mix and coverage
  • Plan and coordinate bench time priorities across engineering program initiatives
  • Manage and maintain Jira boards to track progress and issues, documenting and resolving blockers impacting team performance
  • Maintain and communicate delivery schedules
  • Support proposal development and new program acquisition efforts
  • Interpret statements of work assigned by program leadership
  • Work with suppliers and be able to articulate project requirements
  • Brief internal and external customer leadership on progress of work assigned

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field with 12 years of related experience, Master's degree with 10 years of related experience, Ph.D. with 8 years of related experience
  • U.S Citizenship is required.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance required. Active Secret is required to start. Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP) is required, candidates must obtain SAP prior to starting. Must be able to maintain this level of clearance and special program access for continued employment.
  • Must have 2 years of experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM) managing Earned Value Management System (EVMS) projects
  • Must have 8 years experience with real-time embedded software.
  • Must have 10 years experience with full software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debug and maintenance is required


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working on an EMD program as a systems or software engineer
  • Demonstrated knowledge of radar mode development
  • Fluency with developing and executing project schedules
  • Experience with Atlassian tool suite
  • Proficient in using advance MS Excel macros, functions, and pivots


Primary Level Salary Range: $169,000.00 - $253,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
