The Aurora campus is looking to add a Staff Principal Electronics - Field Service Engineer to join our team. The position is for an Engineering Field Service Representative (FSR) to be embedded with III Marine Expeditionary Force (III MEF). The FSR will provide direct support to a Northrop Grumman Maritime Targeting Cell (MTC) prototype system currently deployed with the U.S. Marines. The prototype system will replace functions from existing programs to bring intelligence data to tactical units to automate the development of targeting solutions. The FSR will be embedded with the operational unit and be the system subject matter expert, providing training on the system hardware and software, as well as supporting the Marines in the unit with system operations, employment, and routine maintenance. The intent is for Marines to be the primary operators and maintainers of the system, with the FSR providing training and assistance as needed to keep the system fully mission capable. The FSR will have reach-back support to the Northrop Grumman factory in Aurora, CO for higher levels of support as needed. Additionally, the FSR will execute hardware preventative maintenance, write procedures, perform Break/Fix, touch maintenance, and will be the inventory control/shipping and receiving POC at the site. FSR will need to Travel to factory (Aurora) for system and training updates of Incremental capabilities. Trips will be approximately quarterly for approximately 1 week.

Ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot all the following:

  • Antennas; rack-mount servers; client workstations; routers and switches; associated power and communications cables

  • Software & Operating Systems: VMware (including ESXi, vSAN); Windows Server 2019; Red Hat Enterprise Linux; Windows 11; Cisco IOS; Active Directory and DNS; Kubernetes and container-based infrastructure

  • Familiarity with configuration of encryption devices

  • Ability to coordinate for and support external interface integration, connection to network points of presence, and checkout/confirmation testing efforts

  • Experience with installation of containerized software systems using Docker and Kubernetes

  • Able to apply operating system and software patches and updates on all prototype software and operating systems either independently or with reach-back support

  • Willing to work flexible hours, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays when required to meet Unit Operations and Training Requirements; may include travel to training sites

  • Create discrepancy reports (DR’s) and provide weekly status reports to factory in Aurora, CO.

  • Meet the requirements of DoD 8570.1-M at the IAT II or IAT III Level

  • Must have Security+ and be current with Continuing Education (CE) requirements: CCNA Security, GSEC, and SSCP or must able to obtain Security+ within 3 months of hire date

  • Hardware (HW): antennas, both trailer-mounted and on-ground; servers; Network Attached Storage; workstations; routers and switches; power and communications cables

  • Software (SW) & Operating Systems: Virtualized signal processing and error encoding, mission data processing, Windows, Linux, VMware

  • RF/Antenna: LNAs/LNBs, Filters, RF switches and cables, A-D converters, antenna control units

  • Ability to interpret design documentation; and perform basic repairs, upgrades, and removal of electrical, HW, RF, and mechanical systems

  • Ability to decompose multi-domain data flow and determine fault root cause.

  • Willing to work flexible hours, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays when required to meet unit operations and training requirements; will include travel to other sites

Additional duties include:

  • Primary site representative for a multi-domain tactical edge node system

  • Coordinate subcontractor visits for upgrades and maintenance

  • Provide as-needed support and coordination for on-island travel teams

  • Document system failures and provide operational impacts

  • Document Hardware failures and provide operational impacts

  • Audit and provide updates to hardware drawings and diagrams

Basic Qualifications:

  • 12+ Years of relevant experience with a completed Bachelors-STEM degree; 10+ Years of relevant experience with a completed Masters-STEM degree; 8+ Years of relevant experience with a completed PhD-STEM

    Must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by 
    the company to meet its business need, with eligibility/willingness to submit to a polygraph.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Current Security+ Certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of operational experience supporting and maintaining RF antennas in a multi-INT environment, including imagery/GEOINT

  • Hold VMware VCP-DCV, version 6 or newer Certification and at least 1 other of the following:

    • Microsoft: MCSA Windows Server 2012 or MCSA Windows Server 2016

    • Linux: Linux+, LPIC-1, or Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator

    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

  • An Active/Final Top Secret/SCI/SAP DoD security clearance with a current adjudicated full-scope polygraph

  • Experience in a tactical or mission-oriented workplace

  • Experience briefing military or government leadership

  • Experience with data analysis, instruction, and site surveys

Primary Level Salary Range: $177,000.00 - $265,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
