Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Avionics Architecture Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals at our Melbourne, FL.

The role involves driving design approach / decisions for avionics architecture approach using principles of MOSA – Modular Open Systems Approach, OMS, SOSA  for driving design and integration on a future program.

Design approach and development by developing engineering models, developing system architecture diagrams, and collaborating with Integrated Product Teams. Candidates should have experience with Cameo models or similar tools, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and possess an active Secret clearance. Ideal candidates are innovative, capable of multitasking, and possess strong systems engineering knowledge, adaptable to fast-paced environments and agile methodologies. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with the planning team to create conceptual data models and data flows 

  • Design, develop, and document systems that contain logical solutions using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) 

  • Review modifications of existing systems for cross-compatibility 

  • Implement data strategies and developing physical data models 

  • Coach team members on developing the requirements, architecture, design, and implementation in the model 

  • Assist leadership with task prioritization and task delegation to meet overall program goals and objectives 

Basic Qualifications:

Staff Avionics Architecture Engineer (T05):

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 14 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master’s degree in a (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 12 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. (STEM) AND 9 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering.

  • Active In-Scope DoD Secret clearance.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Active In-Scope DoD Top Secret clearance.

  • Must have experience developing model-based systems engineering products and/or Mission Engineering in Cameo or similar tools

  • Must have experience modeling software systems and software system of systems 

  • Must have familiarity with network, commercial cloud, platform infrastructures and containerized software architecture
    Must have experience modeling in a software product line engineering (PLE) environment 

  • Must have experience with Systems engineering tools (i.e. Cameo Suite) and Agile framework 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Modeling and Simulation 

  • Familiarity with Digital Engineering processes and environments

  • Knowledge and experience with the definition of MOSA – Modular Open Systems Approach, and interfaces definition, development, and control

  • Experience in integrating complex system across multiple domains

  • Experience demonstrating concepts to management and customers

Primary Level Salary Range: $147,700.00 - $221,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
