Full Job Description
OLBN is currently seeking a StaffArchitect to support our A/E design studio in Rockville, MD. This position provides an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and hard-working architect to join a dynamic group of architectural professionals in a collaborative, technology-infused environment. The Staff Architect will support OLBN's architecture team in the development of architectural calculations/analyses, construction documents, specifications, and other design documentation as well as virtual reality modeling.

The successful candidate shall possess progressive technical experience in architectural design and detailing, building codes and standards, and associated product knowledge. In addition, the successful candidate shall be a motivated self-starter who values teamwork as well as individual contribution/accountability and is passionate about advancing their career through their own performance. Attention to detail, commitment to deliverable quality, and a focus on continuous production improvement are essential.

Basic Requirements:

Education: Bachelor of Architecture Required / Master's Degree in Architecture and/or Professional Degree Preferred

Certifications: Registered Architect (RA) preferred; Industry certifications and/or affiliations preferred

Experience: Minimum 5 years progressive experience

Background: U.S. Citizen or legal resident with ability to pass background investigation

Key Skills and Responsibilities:

  • Supports design activities as part of the design team, performing independent design development.
  • Has responsibility for executing independent design activities with minimal oversight, reviews and interprets, with minimal guidance, established codes, design standards, regulations, and other industry information to ensure proper application on design projects.
  • Works on multiple projects at various stages of completion concurrently.
  • Coordinates efforts with other architectural, engineering, and technical staff, both internal and external, to ensure accuracy and technical proficiency of project submissions.
  • Works closely and interacts regularly with OLBN clients.
  • Performs surveys and assessments of existing conditions.
  • Highly proficient with computer aided design/drafting software (AutoCAD, Revit) in the development of accurate technical designs and construction documentation.
  • Prepares calculations, reports, and specifications to support project requirements.
  • Works effectively under pressure while meeting established budgets and schedules.
  • Supports quality control and quality assurance of all deliverables with a focus on personal accountability and continuous improvement.
  • General understanding / familiarity with technology (hardware and software).
  • Position's primary focus will be on architectural design/production but will be provided experience in other design disciplines as part of their regular performance.
  • Position involves overtime, as required, to meet project deadlines.
