Our team builds an AI agent that assists users in building Unqork applications, and were looking for an engineer to help shape it - from how the agent reasons, to the tools it uses to build and test applications, to the backend that makes it fast and dependable at scale. This is a blend of applied AI engineering and backend systems work, well suited to someone who has built agentic products and enjoys owning ambiguous, high-impact problems end to end.
The Impact U will make:- Report directly to our VP of Agentic AI
- Shape the core intelligence and behavior of the agent - how it interprets intent, plans, assists, and recovers from failure - so that it reliably helps users build working Unqork applications.
- Help scale the backend that powers the agent in production, contributing to a service that stays fast, observable, and resilient as usage grows.
- Drive how we measure and raise agent quality over time, turning real-world usage into a feedback loop that makes the product steadily more capable and trustworthy.
What U bring:- Strong software engineering fundamentals - you design clean systems, reason about tradeoffs independently, and ship well-tested code that holds up in production.
- Experience building and operating backend services at scale, with a feel for performance, reliability, and observability; proficiency in TypeScript and Python.
- A track record of building AI- or agent-powered products, and good judgment about how to apply LLMs to real problems - what theyre good at, where they break, and how to design around both.
- Strong product intuition - you make sound product decisions in ambiguity, weigh user needs against technical tradeoffs, and know which problems are worth solving.
- You are an avid user of AI coding tools and are passionate about exploring how AI can automate workflows, enhance creativity, and increase your personal impact.
Nice to haves:- Experience with agent frameworks or developer kits (e.g. ADK) and the broader LLM tooling ecosystem.
- Background in developer tools, low-code/no-code platforms.
- Front-end development skills with TypeScript/React

Hiring Ranges:- Tier 1: $155,000 - $220,000
- Tier 2: $145,000 - $210,000
Unqork employs a market-driven approach to establish compensation ranges. In addition to a base salary, employees may also be eligible to receive a target incentive and company equity in the form of stock options.
An employees compensation within the range provided above depends on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, their location, role, skillset, level of experience, and similar peer salaries.
As a remote-first company, Unqork incorporates a geographic differential into our compensation structure, depending on the candidates location. We utilize a tiered system-Tier 1 and Tier 2-to accurately reflect local market rates and ensure our compensation packages are both fair and competitive.
Our geographic tiers are defined as follows:
- Tier 1: New York Metro, Seattle Metro, San Francisco Bay Area
- Tier 2: All other US and US territory locations
