Responsibilities

  • Act as the expert for the hydraulics subsystem on the Integrated Product Team.

  • Represent engineering in supplier management for component sourcing.
  • Conduct necessary system analysis to support specialty engineering.
  • Document changes and revisions to hydraulic subsystems.
  • Respond directly to requests and needs from users and program leadership.
  • Deliver technical briefs and presentations to varied audiences, including users and customers.

Full Job Description
RELOCATION ASSISTANCE: Relocation assistance may be available CLEARANCE REQUIRED FOR START: Yes CLEARANCE TYPE: Top Secret TRAVEL: Yes, 10% of the Time Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Sr Principal Engineer Aeronautical - Hydraulics Responsible Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Palmdale, CA. The candidate should be a self-starter with familiarity working in an Integrated Product Team construct. Roles and Responsibilities will include: • Serve as the subject matter expert for the hydraulics subsystem • Lead a small team that defines and champions system improvement initiatives as they become necessary, • Serve as an engineering representative in the supplier management team for all suppliers providing components of the subsystem, • Perform system analysis as needed to serve specialty engineering needs, • Define and document changes and revisions to the subsystem • Provide direct response to subsystem needs as they arise from the user, the customer, and/or program leadership. • Present effective technical briefs on all of the above for all levels of consumption (i.e. user, customer, program leadership, etc.). The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. Travel up to 25% may be required. Basic Qualifications • Staff Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 12 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience. • Experience working with diverse technical teams and leading others. • Experience working with aeronautic hydraulic systems • Knowledge of design, analysis and/or engineering tools development • Proficient with typical office toolsets such as Windows OS and Microsoft Office Suite • Proficient at locating and examining technical data from Computer Aided Design • Experience using CATIA V5 to examine 3D models • Experience using TeamCenter Engineer and Enterprise to locate and examine technical data • Active DoD Top Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation). • Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Access Program (SAP) access via a Program Access Request (PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs. • Ability to obtain and maintain subsequent SAP PARs following commencement of employment to be able to completely support statement of work. Preferred Qualifications • Current applicable Special Access Program (SAP) clearance. • Active DoD Top Secret SCI clearance (with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation). • Experience working on Special Access Programs • Experience with hydraulic system design and analysis • Experience applying Siemens AMESIM, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar analysis tools to hydraulic subsystems Primary Level Salary Range: $177,000.00 - $265,600.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
