The Staff Accountant will be responsible for the daily management of accounting activities, including general ledger integrity, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting. This is a highly operational role ideal for an experienced accountant who thrives in fast-moving environments and enjoys building and improving accounting processes from the ground up. You'll be Hydra Host's go-to accounting leader - rolling up your sleeves to ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence as we continue to scale worldwide.
Key Responsibilities- Day-to-Day Accounting: Manage all general ledger, journal entries, and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Month-End Close: Lead the month-end and quarter-end close processes, preparing timely and accurate financial statements.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Oversee billing, collections, vendor payments, and expense reporting with precision and efficiency.
- Bank & Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Maintain reconciliations for all key accounts, ensuring financial integrity across global entities.
- Revenue & Cost Tracking: Support revenue recognition and cost allocation linked to infrastructure operations, datacenter leases, and hardware spend.
- Process Improvements: Streamline accounting workflows and introduce automation to improve accuracy, speed, and scalability.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to GAAP standards and internal controls while coordinating with tax and audit partners as needed.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with operations, engineering, and leadership teams to align financial processes with operational realities.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain clear, organized documentation and assist in preparing management reports and audit support schedules.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or similar credential preferred)
- 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, including experience in fast-paced or scaling organizations
- Solid understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles
- Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar platforms)
- Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail
- Experience with multi-entity or international accounting is a plus
- Highly organized, deadline-driven, and comfortable working independently in a distributed team environment
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills with a proactive, hands-on mindset
