The Staff Accountant will assist with the day-to-day accounting functions of the company, month-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and project accounting support. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
- Perform monthly bank and balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Analyze financial data and investigate account variances.
- Support project managers with project cost reporting and job cost analysis.
- Assist with work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and construction contract accounting.
- Prepare sales and use tax filings and assist with payroll tax reporting.
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
- Assist with annual audits, financial statement preparation, and lender reporting.
- Prepare and analyze various accounting reports for management.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
- Assist with special projects and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 2-5 years of accounting experience preferred.
- Construction accounting experience is highly desirable.
- Understanding of job costing, percentage-of-completion accounting, and construction financial reporting is a plus.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Vista, or similar construction accounting software is preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
