Full Job Description
GFT is looking for a resourceful and engaged Senior Wastewater Engineer, Project Manager offering strong technical and project management experience to join our Water Group in Southern California with the flexibility to work from Los Angeles, San Diego or Irvine. There is also the option of working from one of our Northern CA office to include Oakland and San Francisco. GFToperates in a hybrid work environment and offers flexible schedules.

As a Project Manager you will leverage your technical and management expertise to plan, design, and construct water/wastewater infrastructure within a dynamic team environment, while also mentoring junior staff, both in office and remotely. You will provide business development and project management leadership, guiding integrated teams to meet client requirements related to scope, schedule, budget, and quality. Additionally, candidates will focus on increasing backlog, project revenue, and profitability with both current and new clients.

In this capacity, you will be responsible for the following:
  • Participating in and leading project teams in the planning, design, and construction administration of municipal and industrial water and wastewater infrastructure facilities.
  • Engaging in client interactions, delivering presentations, and coordinating project activities.
  • Coordinating work activities of technical staff and consultants, including developing and implementing study and design standards, leading progress meetings, preparing meeting agendas and minutes, and tracking project schedules and budgets.
  • Collaborating with and communicating effectively with various municipalities and governmental regulatory agencies.
  • Overseeing construction contract management and observation services.
  • Preparing technical reports and permit applications.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior-level engineers to support their professional growth.
  • Demonstrating professional technical writing and verbal communication skills.


What you will bring to our firm:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering. Master's Degree is preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in the water/wastewater discipline, particularly as a water/wastewater engineer designing studies, plans, and specifications for water and/or wastewater infrastructure (e.g., treatment and collection/distribution projects).
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Progressive experience in the evaluation, design, permitting, and construction administration of water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, water storage and distribution facilities, and wastewater collection systems.
  • Proven project management experience, including responsibilities for budget and schedule monitoring and control.
  • Experienced in client relations and business development.
  • A strong leader and team player with excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to deliver effective client presentations and prepare detailed written reports.


Compensation:

The salary range for this position is $175,000 - $230,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
