Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Order Management & Logistics - Americas, the Sr. Warehousing Manager, North America, will be responsible for strategy and operations of Grace internal and third-party warehousing and distribution operations in the US and Canada, providing leadership support within a matrixed organization to achieve safety, service, quality, and cost goals while driving an enhanced customer experience. Responsibility extends beyond warehousing to include packaging, de-sacking, blending, and other operations as required.

This is a hybrid role with 4 days required in the office and 1 day available to be worked remotely. The ideal candidate will be based in either Columbia, MD, or Houston, TX. Must be able to travel up to 20% domestically to meet with internal stakeholders and external partners.

Responsibilities (1 of 2)

  • Lead the Warehousing/Distribution (W&D) strategy for Grace in North America to ensure best in class warehousing services at the lowest cost
  • Continually evaluate optimization of internal vs external resources to meet evolving business needs.
  • Manage 2 direct reports and 20+ indirect managing Grace company warehousing operations in Houston, TX and Curtis Bay, MD
  • Participate in and support Grace business units' strategic growth plans and act as linkage across businesses for W&D.
  • Lead capacity planning exercises, for both mid- and long-term horizons, for both internal and external warehouses.
  • Participate in evaluation and potential onboarding of global warehousing/logistics partners.
  • Perform periodic risk analyses and develop associated mitigation plans that are incorporated into the overall W&D strategy.
  • Lead negotiations and relationship management with Warehousing service providers in partnership with Grace Procurement to ensure consistent, quality service performance at the lowest cost
  • Manage a combined annual spend of over $15M across 10 domestic warehousing sites in North America
  • Build effective cross-functional relationships across the organization (Sales, Finance, Legal, Supply Management, Order Management, Transportation, Product Management, Quality, internal/external shipping locations, and tollers) to improve service execution, drive productivity, and reduce cost


Responsibilities (2 of 2)

  • Create and analyze key metrics for the warehousing distribution network; establish goals in the areas of performance, quality, safety, cost, and customer satisfaction
  • Lead domestic warehousing-focused projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely execution aligned with company goals
  • Oversee company warehousing lease agreements in partnership with Grace Procurement to ensure consistent, quality service performance at the lowest cost
  • Lead the completion of annual physical inventories at company and third party warehousing sites as required
  • Maintain Warehousing service and cost data tracking reports
  • Manage ad hoc warehousing quotes, storage quotes, and logistics scenario planning upon request
  • Utilize SAP, Power-BI, and other data analytics tools to gather insights and identify improvement opportunities
  • Analyze warehousing performance and spend data; complete root cause analysis to identify anomalies/exceptions; lead corrective actions and improvement opportunities
  • Own the investigation, root-cause analysis, and resolution of warehousing related complaints to track performance, drive improvements of providers and recover losses
  • Ensure Warehousing capacities and capabilities are aligned with Grace demand and supply plans, costs, and outlooks, supporting continuous uptime at all North American plants.


Required Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, or Engineering
  • 10+ years of warehousing and distribution, logistics or transportation operations management experience
  • 3PL/4PL Provider Management
  • Chemical/Hazmat shipper experience
  • SAP, or another ERP and Microsoft Office Suite experience with deep knowledge of Excel


Required Skills
