Full Job Description
Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Director of Systems and Networks, this position leads the design, implementation, and support of the telecommunications infrastructure, intranet and internet connectivity, and supports the local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN). Contributes to the development of policies and standards related to telecommunications and networking. Leads efforts to ensure network stability, reliability, security, and integrity. Designs and implements scalable telecommunications and network solutions for El Paso Health through network management solutions, LAN/WAN infrastructure redesign, and/or expansion of existing networks. Develops and maintains integrated solutions for voice, video, and data. Performs tuning tasks associated with telecommunications, networks, systems, and applications performance in a local and wide area environment. Serves as Project Manager for system and infrastructure upgrades, including oversight of building infrastructure modifications required to support data center operations.

Areas of Responsibility:
o Network and telecommunications design, project management, implementation, and support including routers, switches, VLAN segmentation, firewalls, telecommunications devices, wireless technology, communication protocols, IP scheme design, VoIP, and contact center platforms.
o Oversight of building physical security systems and participation in security-related operational response.
o Secondary/Backup: Support for servers, operating systems, remote desktop, patching, backups, asset management, licensing, and end-user support.

Skills
1. Strong oral communications skills are necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers.
2. Knowledge of hardware and software requirements.
3. Ability to operate hand and power equipment, including but not limited to, power screw drivers, drills, vacuum cleaners, soldering irons and computer equipment in a safe manner and in accordance with department and Hospital Safety procedures.
4. Good inter-personal skill and abilities.
5. Extensive computer experience, both on hardware and software.
6. Ability to work independently and as a team member

Work Experience
Eight years of experience as a Network or Telecommunications Administrator is required. Experience must include three years working with network hardware and software, and supporting network operations, including management of Microsoft Windows networks and Active Directory. Experience must also include management of routers, switches, firewalls, and managing VoIP systems and contact center components. Proficiency in the use of network monitoring tools is required. At least two of the eight years of experience must include management of network infrastructure projects, including data center support systems that include CRAC, fire suppression, and redundant power systems.

License/Registration/Certification
Microsoft, CISCO, VMWare or industry recognized certification is preferred.

Education and Training
Associate degree in microcomputer technology or related field is required.
