SR. TECHNICAL ADVISOR - EDMA Senior Technical Advisor is assigned to a Product Team in support of the Team Leader to meet specific product development and process requirements in furtherance of the strategic direction of the Customer Support Department and Makino. The Product Team function is to provide detailed technical knowledge support for the team's product.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES and AUTHORITIES include the following. Others may be assigned.
- Be a strategic advocate in product life cycle management.
- Active involvement in the technical support of products and feedback to Makino Engineering
- Cross-functional coordination of inventory strategy with Service Parts, Fixturing, Inspection Equipment, and Gauges for the product life
- Direct FMEAs for new or revised products entering the market
- Provide technical expertise to the Life-Cycle Services group
- Proactively work to improve product quality and customer-focused performance
- Implement an organized approach to improving design and after sale services
- Work with Makino Engineering and Technical Support to identify and meet key performance indicators
- Seek root causes and coordinate recommendations to improve the reliability and maintainability of product line
- Prioritize and seek efficiency in the modification and redesign of existing equipment
- Develop and collate documented practices and standards for field service activities
- Champion product issues as a subject matter expert
- Report issues of product quality, performance, and safety
- Work with Makino Technical Support and Engineering to develop and validate solution concepts against quality and business requirements
- Interact with SST and Independent Distributor offices on an organized approach to increase their technical support expertise of the Team's products
- Set the standard for excellence in Makino Customer Support
- Provide guidance for and identify the best use of skilled resources
- Take a logistical role with key customers on special projects
- Directly interact with customers with focus on mutually beneficial resolutions
- Act as technical liaison with Makino on behalf of the customer in high profile interactions
QUALIFICATIONS - Excellent communication and customer relation skills with a focus on tactful and persuasive discussions
- Ability to work effectively on cross-functional projects with multiple departments
- Knowledge of complex technical systems with an ability to identify and analyze problems, set objectives, and make on-going evaluations using proven technologies and vested approaches.
- Ability to prioritize multiple activities while understanding the influence on short- and long-term relationships with customers, and the impact these have on company performance
- Technological fluency (MS Office, SAP, IT, Digital Technology)
- Present professional image
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE - Associate's degree in engineering preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in the machine tool or related industry.
