Role Overview

The Senior Tax Analyst plays a key role on Cboe's Finance - Tax team, ensuring compliance with U.S., state and local, and foreign income and indirect tax laws. This role prepares tax calculations, estimated tax payments, returns, and tax authority correspondence, along with U.S. and non-U.S. tax provision calculations, reconciliations, and journal entries. The Senior Tax Analyst identifies process improvements, uses technology to increase efficiency, and partners strategically with business leaders to reduce risk and strengthen compliance. This role works independently on assignments of moderate complexity, serves as a go-to resource for less experienced colleagues, and reports to the Tax Director.

Your responsibilities will be:

Income Tax Provision (ASC 740)

  • Prepare quarterly and annual income tax provisions, including annual effective tax rate calculations and reconciliations


  • Prepare and maintain book-to-tax reconciliations and workpapers supporting permanent and temporary differences


  • Maintain, roll forward, and reconcile income tax balance sheet accounts, including current payable and receivable accounts, uncertain tax position reserves, and deferred tax assets and liabilities


  • Maintain the Excel provision model, load attributes into OneSource Tax Provision, and reconcile results


  • Prepare income tax journal entries and complete monthly sign-off sheets covering provision calculations and account rollforwards


  • Prepare the annual return-to-provision analysis, period-over-period variance analyses, and annual statutory tax provisions for Cboe's regulated entities


Income and Franchise Tax Compliance

  • Prepare book-to-tax adjustments and supporting workpapers for U.S. federal and state income tax returns


  • Prepare estimated tax analyses and remit required payments


Indirect Tax

  • Review monthly sales tax billing, file sales tax returns, and remit required payments


  • Prepare and file GST and VAT returns and remit related payments


  • Reconcile sales tax accounts monthly


Controls, Controversy and Administration

  • Prepare responses to federal, state, and local tax authority inquiries, support examinations, and respond to external auditor requests


  • Maintain the Tax Calendar and Cboe Tax checklists in Confluence


  • Work within the Tax Risk Control Matrix and SOX narrative, maintaining preparer and reviewer segregation


The ideal candidate has

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and at least five years of tax experience in public accounting or corporate tax required; Master's degree in accounting or taxation with at least three years of experience also considered


  • CPA license, active or eligible, preferred


  • Experience in U.S. federal and state income tax compliance, ASC 740 income tax accounting, and multi-jurisdiction indirect tax, including sales and use tax, preferred


  • Public accounting experience preferred


  • Proficiency in OneSource Tax Provision preferred


  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel


  • Ability to work independently on specialized assignments of moderate complexity


  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent deadlines


  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with close attention to detail

Salary Ranges (applicable for US locations only)
At Cboe, we are committed to providing a competitive, transparent, and market-informed total rewards program. The anticipated base salary range for this role is $93,500-$121,000, with actual compensation determined by job-related factors such as skills, relevant experience, education, internal alignment, and location.

This role may also be eligible for annual incentive compensation and, where applicable, participation in Cboe's long-term equity programs.
